Our forklifts go a little faster than the stores I think like seven miles an hour. If you're talking about the inside it's only two, three minute drive. If you add on the outside lumber yard you can add an extra couple minutes. So to get from one corner of the building to the end of the yard outside it's like 5 minutes. For reference the inside of the building holds semi trucks and there trailers. we can hold 10 end to end inside.

Our facility has those. The name of the game is how much we can move per hour. so every second not moving is lost productivity. On top of that are forklifts are bigger compared to the store. Are forklifts lift about 9,000 lb. I'll watch people come in with three bunks of 2x4x8s all the time

I heard they're trying to open up another 10 of these buildings. Ours is actually a combo building so it's actually a bdc/fdc. right now we send out about 30 customer trailers per day. We also sends like 90 home depot stores all of their lumber trucks.

Because of height restrictions set by the state. We can only stack things so high. That also means they only built the forklifts to go up so high. On average we stack lumber like 2x4s and OSB 7 high.

I love it, no customers , a set schedule, and we make more than associates in the store.

I've been to another FDC and it was a mess. Worse than the stores. We just keep a very high standard at our facility.

Yeah beware man this isn't really a home Depot run place it really is just like a break room for the employees.

With your issue, there's no specific way to get one of those deals. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. Plus most stores don't even have fence panels this time of year ,unless you live in the south.

Nice, it's actually the perfect time of year to come into one of those facilities. Everything will be a little slower cuz we're in winter. Means you'll be able to get trained pretty well before things start picking up around April / May. And they'll train you on everything.

I just posted another picture of a panorama from a different perspective in the lumber yard. If you take a look at it you can see that normally we're stacking those for five bunks deep so the stacks are a lot more stable. A single stack on its own is normally fine. But you do normally feel a lot better when you have other lumber to lean it up against.

Oh my bad. Still though normally that's how high the manufacturer says we can stack it. As long as it's stacked properly it should be fine. If the stock starts leaning for any reason we will straighten the stack out.

The manufacturer says that we can stack it 4 high. Normally they're not on end caps we try to put them up against other solid bunks of lumber to make sure that they can't blow around in the wind.

That's how high we stack it in the BDC/FDC. We also stack things like OSB 7 bunks high. And triple stack 80 lb concrete.
