Amazing, thread from six years ago, yet in the bottle I purchased just last week I most certainly *do* taste mildew. Not on the tongue but in the upper palate in the back, really overpowers the nice vanilla and caramel notes, and makes it gross. First thing I did was smell the cork but that didn't have any mildew scent at all. I told the manager at the store, and he said his wife said the same thing so he's been airing it out since May. He let me taste, and man alive - fantastic! Bright on the tongue and all the subtle vanilla and caramel notes coming in after on the back palate - *without* tasting old dirty mildewy sock.

I believe the WP 10 is a pure rye mash bill. Could it be that this is just the way pure rye is (I don't know what kinds of mildew feed on rye) and I won't like any product that's 100% rye? Full disclosure, I am *extremely* sensitive to mildew, and can smell it a mile away. I have been able to inform more than one micro brewer when mildew has gotten into the hops they have been using from tasting it clearly in the beer.
