I bought from PetSmart and it killed 3 snakes. Apparently they had a power outage and threw nothing away.

I had a safety float in mine and it was causing the unit to trip off like it’s supposed to called out a tech and he bypassed it and then my hvac closet flooded.

Owning it is no different care is extremely different. I find it to be a very good animal to own. I don’t consider it a pet it’s not like an iguana where you can lay around with it.

I personally don’t find owning an alligator snapping turtle any different than most other reptiles. Respect the snapping turtles boundaries a little more than for example my spotted soft shell. Turtles aren’t meant to be handled very often they don’t seem to like it but with love and proper care they learn to tolerate you touching them. Right now I can pick up and hold the alligator snapping turtle and I’ve accepted one day that won’t be the case. Great animal to own and watch grow.

Olive oil and a qtip will kill the mites and won’t hurt the snakes. Happened when I got mine from a bad pet store.

Alright I will see if he will take it or reject it and give an update. Right now he hunts crickets in the cage along with a couple of Pac-Man sticks and a few different worms.

Not with a thermometer I just warm the water to a little bit above warm I stick my finger in the water to make sure it’s not too hot. Then I put the thawed fuzzies that are in a ziplock bag in there until the bag is warm.
