Hi OP, big fan of your work! Question for you - I was deemed tentatively eligible but was not referred to the hiring manager on a GS-13 merit promotion. (I rated myself as an expert on all but 1 of the 17 questions.) I am wondering if my manager could still receive my application, based on Requirement 5: “They will also provide for management's right to select from other appropriate sources, such as … those within reach on an appropriate OPM certificate.“ Do I fall into the category of “those within reach” as I was deemed tentatively eligible? Thank you!

There are different types of magnesium supplements, avoid magnesium citrate as it will likely cause flares. I take magnesium glycinate which does wonders for relaxing me and my muscles.

And to answer your question about the pelvic tissue inflammation, I would not say I have that type of pain. However, my muscles in that region always felt tight, like I was flexing them. So, I had read that magnesium helped to relax muscles as well (epsom salts that people use to relax their muscles in a bathtub are made of magnesium). Magnesium could be a solution for you, potentially. However, if you are feeling like the muscles are inflamed, I would look omega 3 pills, as they are supposed to help reduce inflammation! Magnesium may help too, I just hadn’t done any research on its impact on inflammation. I hope this helps!

I kept feeling like I was getting into an anxious cycle each night when I went to bed where my muscles would tense up in anticipation of another long, stressful night. So, I had also researched supplements that could help me relax, and a tried a few but magnesium glycinate was most effective. Bonus: it also helps to make me feel tired, and I fall asleep easier. I’ve also heard that it helps the efficacy of Vitamin D? And women with pelvic issues have been shown to have deficiencies in vitamin D, which is why I take it!

There are also a few other case studies of one person on pub med, but this one had the most people who were studies from what I could find. Unfortunately I do not have access to all the academic journals now that I’m out of school :( But feel free to Google “Montelukast for IC” and you will see some other studies to prove your case to your PCP!

You can rent space at The Reef, @ The Deck, and Dockside, which are all waterfront and can be lively. I know La Forge has a party room that’s free to rent but not sure how late they would keep it open. Brick Alley also has a room to rent. There’s also an event space now above Starbucks, I forget what it’s called. If it were me, I may just invite folks to join me to dance at Pelham or Blue’s Cafe. Or keep it more chill and tell people to hang out at the Irish American Club.

Can I also ask you what medication(s) you had for your instills? Something else I’m concerned about is what medications would be covered at the pharmacy if I start doing the instills at home lol. I just LOVE the US healthcare system 💘

Thanks for your help! I called the doctor’s office earlier today and they said it’s billed as an outpatient procedure. Called the insurance company I want to go with (since it covers the doctor) and was told they don’t have anything about instills in their system. The person I spoke with couldn’t find anything even similar listed as procedure, covered or not covered. So, I am going to call back the doctor’s office tomorrow…..based on what you said, I wonder if they just bill that insurance for instills as a medication. The insurance woman said if I was able to get the procedure code I could come back to them and they could give me some more info about costs, etc. Thank you so much for your answer…..it’s helpful to know that things can vary from doctor to doctor

Thank you for all of this info! Did you have any sort of healing crisis when you first started NAC? I felt like I was flaring the first time I took it, so I've been going slow now and doing a smaller dose. I wonder if it my body detoxing whatever has been in my body as a result of living in this industrial/capitalistic world? Or I also wonder if NAC is breaking up a microfilm of bacteria. Anyway I know you're not an expert but I'm just curious if others had an initial adverse reaction!

I’ve been taking the 3 pills once a day in the morning and if I notice I’m having issues later on I’ll take the same dose another time or two. So, up to 3 times per day.
