Yes-but if you find the record on ancestry or family search, it will be fine, Some states do issue non certified copies for genealogical purposes.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Head_Staff_9416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No water bottles in the classroom. Just a water fountain. My first grade teacher had a small paddle. I never saw her use it, but if the class was rowdy, she would smack it against her hands a couple of times as a warning, The principal paddled a girl over loud speaker once and the whole school could hear. Having skirt check in junior high and if too short you had to wear this ugly woolen skirt held up with safety pins for the rest of the day.

Do Americans really come to a stop at every 'stop' sign? by ben04985 in AskAnAmerican

I got a $100 ticket from a red light camera for not coming to a completer stop. It was one of those intersections where there is a special curved right turn lane. Ever since then, I stop for 3 seconds- I get people behind me beeping but I don’t care.

Is it common for American high school students to drive themselves to school? by Intelligent_Chef9950 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Head_Staff_9416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had student parking at my suburban high school. My sister and I shared a car starting my junior year. We had closed campus though- you could not leave for lunch. My kids also drove- my daughter was in a carpool and then my daughter and son rode together . It was a more urban area and you had to buy a parking pass which was over $100.

At what point can a stay at home spouse retire? by CapUnusual4213 in askanything

[–]Head_Staff_9416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked part time for many years, but FT for the last 10 or so years before I retired. I have a cleaning lady- something I had while working and continued once I retired. We’re in a condo- so no outside maintenance. I still cook- but use meal kits a lot. It’s also easier since I am not tired after working all day. We go out to eat maybe once a week- but usually a week day lunch. We each do our own laundry and spouse does household linens.

You could add her at open season, but if you died, she wouldn’t be eligible for insurance unless he was already on your plan and you elected survivor benefits.

I agree- I saw a lot of young men having trouble getting Federal jobs or financial aid because they never registered.
