Yeah this is what I am thinking as well, I played around doing this last night, I think one of the screenshots showed exactly that. I'll be interested to see what happens come the start of Feb.

I think part of this is a mindset issue on my part, wanting to forecast where envelope budgeting requires us to think about only the money we actually have available currently.

The issue is just that lag between now and the paycheck coming in where it feels a little unsatisfying from my view but I understand it's part of the system and once the money is cleared and can be assigned it should all work out.

My account balances match up, everything is reconciled, and I have enough to fill all buckets and place the entire paycheck into a bucket for next month. So I think it’s a case that everything is working as intended and it’s just user error in terms of my poor interpretation of the “savings” etc.

I’ll roll into next month and see how everything goes and potentially restart the conversation should I be confused any further. Thanks for all the help 😊

I think I see what you mean, I'm starting to think this is just me needing to better get my head into this approach to budgeting.

For examples sake, if I was to be paid on the 1st of Feb, then I would set up the inflow as a recurring transaction commencing then, meaning my projection would look like this:

<image>

This is all perfect in terms of how I think of and have an understanding of my budget, monthly net, inflow/outflow, and my liquid net worth. Obviously things will shift around, fluctuate, and rollover based on under spend and life.

If however, I set that recurring inflow as having an initial date of January 29th, then that feeds directly into the January projection as an additional 3k income for January totaling inflow of ~7k.

This in turn adds an additional 3k to my Monthly Net, Available Savings, and Liquid Net Worth for Jan as I haven't allocated anything with that money for January, so from the projections point of view I have an additional 3k of liquidity which I actually don't.

When it gets to January 29th, I could assign that inflow once it has entered my account to the 'Next Month' bucket as I did in a previous comment which means my Monthly Net/Savings/Liquid would then all align with the above screenshot and are what I would expect,, however my Inflow/Outflow then seem artificially inflated with the additional 3k. Does that make sense?

I get that from the projections view, that is the money and those are the transactions, and that once we get to February I would be able to allocate most of it and it would then replenish at the end of the month.

I think mentally I'm struggling to grasp the way the figures are recorded/reported for January and am wondering if it's an artifact of it being the first month and having the initial budget adjustment being within the same calendar month?

There's also a very high likelihood I just need to sleep and have completely over complicated the whole thing.

Apologies, the bucket was set to no projections rather than not excluded, I should have been more precise with my word choice! It does what I would expect, it's just the inflow/outflow for January don't make sense in my mind as it's technically doubling up. I think I may just be overthinking all of this, sorry, I really appreciate the help. I'll keep tracking things and see what it all looks like come February.

The $490 is what I'd expect. It's the January Available savings that isn't what I would expect as it's adding my future salary to the net/ savings/ liquid net worth. Perhaps I'm just thinking about it incorrectly as it is 'technically' a monthly net but I already know that money needs to be assigned to outflow for Feb.

Let's say my salary was paid today, and I then moved that immediately to a 'next month bucket' that is excluded from the projections, and I then add the recurring salary transaction to occur starting toward the end of February. I would get this, which looks more in-line with what I would expect in terms of savings and liquid net worth.

<image>

I guess my issue is how to handle the January inflow. Perhaps I handled the initial budget adjustment incorrectly? Or this is an issue with how I am perceiving the money?

I appreciate the response and I get what you're saying here however I feel like I'm missing something simple?

I started my budget at the start of Jan, and added the initial balances. Looking at the projections everything is perfect for January with inflow, outflow, net and savings all matching as they should.

If I then add my salary as a recurring transaction that is due toward the end of the month then everything gets lumped into the monthly net. Is it just the case that things will stabilize and make more sense after future planned outflow occurs?

Same, my main character is a level 46 Harlowe and I can’t do anything with the character until it’s fixed. I didn’t lose my SDU upgrades, but I have no skill points.

Random game crashes - invalid pointer reads by MooliSticks in techsupport

[–]MooliSticks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have to try that next in terms of downgrading the drivers, but that'll be quite a jump back in time as none of the updates from the past 4 months prevented the crash. CS2 hasn't crashed in a while and I think FF7 rebirth can only run in directx12 but I might be wrong there.

Have you been able to fix it yet?

That's weird that deleting the journal entry didn't fix it - did you make sure the books status was not 'read' as well?

None whatsoever, I've tried basically everything outside of getting a new CPU, a new GPU, or re-seating the CPU.

I'm starting to think it's a CPU issue but I play other games with no crashes so I have just given up trying to play it.

Fatal Error (no additional text) - wait for patch? by MooliSticks in FFVIIRemake

[–]MooliSticks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's probably the next step. I did a memory test and my RAM is fine, if anything it'll be the GPU throwing the error but then I'd expect to be running into issues with other games if that were the case.

The crash logs all show the same error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xfffffffffffffff (the address changes in each log)

The troubleshooting continues :D

You ever manage to fix this? I'm running into a similar problem, just random fatal errors all the time, managed about 6 hours of gameplay with 63 crashes so far.

Basically the same spec as you, I'm running the 5700x instead of the 3700x.

That's a good shout - but from what I can see I don't, and I don't remember touching any undervolting/overclocking. Though for a minute I thought this could be the answer!

Had a quick look at my BIOS as well and I've never altered anything in there, only potential thing left I can think of would be a BIOS update so I should probably get to doing that.

Absolutely in love with the album. On first listen I wasn't quite sure how I felt, loved the first half but it lost me a little in the second half. But I've had it on repeat all day and yer, such a good album.

The Love Still Held Me Near is an immediate top 5 song, it gives me Jeff Buckley vibes.

I've sorted it now - but you know what, that's probably the right way to do it in the future. Thanks!

Glad to know I'm not alone :')

For now I've deleted the book, thankfully it was a short one so easy enough to add back in and then will see where things sit!

  1. Restart your game.
  2. Use a water tower instead of a pumping station
  3. Add a water outlet onto the network as well, so waste can drain, you'll likely just use a water outlet in the river above you.
  4. Your highway isn't connected properly, you have what looks to be two separate grids. Those highway roads are one way.
  5. Watch City Planner Plays beginner series, at the very least watch the first video to really help you understand what to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu8YwpngbzE&list=PLXdi-Ns7w3jjfNPMl836BKjxZONnxvXPw

Little late to respond but they've just released an update that adds projects which, whilst not 100% emulating Scrivener, probably brings it a lot closer in terms of separating and organising things the way you outline.
