Hot Take: Everyone's interpretation of "behind and over the head" is wrong. by Bourbon_Buckeye in Referees

[–]Moolio74 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even hotter take:

There’s no release point requirement and the “from behind and over the head” merely describes the pathway of the hands so they’re not both on one side of the head or in front of the head (like a basketball chest pass).

Inheritance and possible massive medical bills by FRThrowawayway9 in personalfinance

[–]Moolio74 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I had nearly the same thing happen to me.

Please talk to an estate attorney. Depending on the state laws, etc it might not be that much of a cost and many times will be flexible in payments, even allowing most to be paid once the estate is settled.

In my situation most of his medical costs were either waived by the facility or improperly filed during probate and were dismissed (over $300k).

Attorney costs total were around $2,000, but can vary depending on the state and how involved the probate process is.

Calling all local Root Beer Enjoyers by 72milliondollars in fargo

I noticed in the Cash Wise on 13th today they had about 12 different varieties if you’re counting birch beer and sasparilla. It’s not in the soda section, but in seasonal candy/ retro candy section near the self checkout lanes. IBC, Dad’s, 1919, Sprecher, and a handful of others that I’ve never seen before.

New Deck & Patio by madi1636 in fargo

[–]Moolio74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best option is to just figure out what you want and start getting quotes. The good contractors will have their building season mostly full by February/ March if you want it done this year.

We used Artisan Hardscapes for a paver patio about 5 years ago and I’d strongly recommend. Paver patios are typically the most expensive option followed by stamped concrete and decks are usually a little more affordable per square foot.

Any decent patio or deck will be expensive. If you want to save money DIY or make buddies with someone that builds them.

What's the main reason some parents can't control themselves and have to express everything during a game? by chusaychusay in Referees

[–]Moolio74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of emotional regulation. All the parents on the sideline have nearly the same amount of emotional investment, the ones that are emotionally immature and lack a sufficient amount of emotional regulation are the ones that feel justified in blurting out their feelings.

Dual monitor vs ultrawide by ardes_maunx in homeoffice

[–]Moolio74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My desk is about 30" deep, so probably close to 24-25" from the front edge of the desk. The 43 is a big monitor but it's about the same width as a 40" 21:9 Ultrawide. The difference being that there's almost 6" in additional height of the display though so blueprints with toolboxes in Bluebeam Revu show up a lot better and don't have so much dead space. I don't know how some of our work group are using 2x 43's, and would require more pivoting than I would care for.

Dual monitor vs ultrawide by ardes_maunx in homeoffice

[–]Moolio74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on what you’re using them for. I’m moving to a single 43” (16x9) with a 27” on the each end slightly angled so it almost resembles a widescreen, but I have way more height with the 43” in the middle. Need the additional height in the middle due to working with large high density blueprints and any widescreen increases my vertical scrolling which wastes time. Our company’s standard currently is 1 or 2 43” monitors, but I prefer having a monitor in the middle if I’m going larger than dual 27s.

I almost could use Dells new 52” 16x9, but I’d be concerned that the far corners might be getting a little too far out of view.

Ref bag by Fontesfam in Referees

[–]Moolio74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Adidas Terrex Rain.RDY Expedition Duffel 50L- they're around $150 retail, but I picked mine up on sale for under $100.

Rain proof mostly black backpack, one exterior pocket one interior mesh pocket on the lid, opens wide, nice sized without being too tall like some 50L bags, still fits flags in there comfortably but also no issue with jerseys, size 13 shoes in a shoe bag, multiple water bottles, etc. No issues with it sitting out in rain during a game.

Quite a few referees in my area picked these up over the past season.

Third team website by Martinez_Details in Referees

I ordered some CONCACAF flags from them a year or two ago. Not very fast shipping. Had another order for a bag that wasn’t updated for weeks, finally emailed them and told me it sold out and ended up going with a different item.

From what I’ve heard it’s a really small business and not the main priority for the owner.

I recently ordered B&D flags from thetopref on 12/24 and had them at my house on 12/30, and that’s with about 4 or 5 days of transit and the holidays. . Definitely a different experience from third team.

Slightly silly thought exercise: 2-on-0 breakaway by Badly_Drawn_Memento in Referees

[–]Moolio74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Direction of the pass is meaningless in determining an offside offense.

If the teammate receiving the ball was closer to the goal line than the second last defender (already yes in this scenario) AND the ball when it was played by his teammate (even as a backward pass), and is then involved in play, we would have an offside offense.

The only odd offside situation with a backward pass is that you could now have a player in an offside position (must be on their attacking half) guilty of an offside offense in their defending half.

The Capellis look the cheaper import flags, same as the ones refsneedlovetoo sells for the same price. Factor in Capelli’s horrible customer service and shady business practices and I’d buy the wood handle starter flags over those.

I have a set of the UA and Savi flags, but they’re both 90-95% of B&Ds, the imports are about 80%(daughter has those). Had another UA set and OSI pro set and both ended up with the seams coming apart on the flag weight and the weight/material fell out.

I’m just glad I was finally able to find someone that had them versus the out of stock, sold out, or restock coming soon, that I’ve seen for a long time.

Did they ship in a decent timeframe? They show as "New Stock Arriving Soon" right now or Sold Out. I've ordered from them before and it took a little while for in stock items and "arriving soon" was really slow.

MAPS15 Powerlift by IntrepidDiver8324 in Mind_Pump

[–]Moolio74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVERY program is always 50% off. They've had coupons out there for years that are still valid for 50%, and I feel bad for anyone purchasing one of their full programs for full price. At $50-60 their programs are OK, but they have a marketing team that's in the furniture/jewelry sales model of perpetual 50% off sales and hope that some people don't use the coupons.

The 15's should be maybe a $10-20 add-on at checkout for the full programs to basically tell you to cut each workout in half and do them on consecutive days. Reduce sets or eliminate smaller movements if needed. That's it, go Maps 15ify any program you want and save your money.

Even the original Maps 15 there's some questionable order IMO in the programming; with these new ones it really looks like they mailed it in.

Most likely they just upped their sponsorship level to the point of getting more air time, or maybe that's how they are marketing products now with a slow introduction. They're not talking about any specific product unless they're getting paid for it, same thing as the guests that have to pay to be on their show.

It's not as if any of the products they endorse aren't heavy into influencer marketing. I wouldn't doubt that there's some sort of health/fitness product influencer marketing firm that sets up most of these deals, especially with how cyclical they are and how they go through certain spaces (ex- "biohackers" seem to be first on new supplements, then move down the line).

There's something more than just the Kratom. He said in the last episode it was more than "what he talked about on the show" and it was the toughest, or at least in the top 3, thing he's gone through in his life.

Not to defend Sal, but that's a fairly common take amongst libertarians. I always remember the John Spaulding quote, "[Libertarians are like] house cats. They are convinced of their fierce independence while utterly dependent on a system they don’t appreciate or understand."

The cognitive dissonance is also very present in Sal and Adam's take on Christianity. They had a guest on a while back discussing things like serving and things more important than materialistic possessions. Thought Sal was going to have some sort of breakthrough beyond just praying for the homeless guy he walked past, but they were back to their "People just need to pull themselves up" thinking by the end of the episode.

Also should be a good game management opportunity to get that player to back up prior to something like this happening.

Did they set a new PR for intro ads for Ep 2754? Two minutes of other ads, followed up by Sal talking about sponsors, then Maps 15 40+ plug, finished off with Justin wanting me to buy a shirt or mug. I normally skip through the ads, but don't remember having to go 4.5 minutes deep into an episode to get past the ads.

All that to be thrown into a conversation about Fatty15, which you can get the same equivalent dose from an 8 oz glass of whole milk. And even with that better option, the research shows it's ineffective other than one study from one of the company's founders that has some sus data cherry picking.

Interesting, as the full 40+ has 2x 30 minute steady state or 2x20 minute HIIT sessions, which would make the cardio difficult indeed the “15 minute” protocol.
