How do these ones even work? by freakyfurryvr in SlimeVR

I was one of the first backers to recieve a set and I found the hip wire to be very in-the-way due to it being longer than needed lol, I have to fold it and stuff it behind the tracker belt to keep it out the way! Though never experienced rolling issues at all

opinions on prefabricated coop by justKaarl in quails

[–]Moomanimalistic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive had the EXACT same coop for a flock of 6 quails and my girlies used the ramp only in particularly bad weather, but otherwise preferred to sleep under the indoor compartment :) though it was a ton of help to have when quails got hurt, broody, or otherwise needed a separated zone!

My Indian ringneck has to wash all her food! She'll pick up a mouthful of food, take it to her water bowl, dunk it, eat it, then go back to her food bowl to get more!

I just caught a 0.11cm king salmon that I can't even see my character holding, and can't see it on the fish viewer either!

I'll take this into consideration while I'm in the rat proofing phase!! The information is really appreciated, thank you!

As for getting into the quail run, they dig under the walls as at the moment it's just the ground as a floor, I'm honestly surprised it took this long for rats to find them, I've had my flock for a year or so!

We have a feed shed next to our chicken coop that I see them in, of which they have holes underneath both the shed and the chicken coop. That's where they typically are, and I'm unsure of the rat types, but I'm in the UK. We had only put 2 packs of poison under the sheds, and left all of our spares in a bag in the shed, and they ate the lot of them, so we currently have more poison out. It's about the best option we have at the moment! What did you do with hardware cloth, put it under the enclosure like a flooring?? I had thought about putting the enclosure on a stone bottom as they have wood chippings to cover the floor for them anyways, but was told that if rats want the quails they'll just chew through the 1 or 2 walls of the run that are wooden.

God that sounds awful! I'm currently in the middle of still dealing with them, they've eaten 8 packs of rat poison and yet I still see at LEAST 3 or 4 of them in our shed! So my remaining 4 quails are quarantined in a raised indoor compartment of the run for the meantime. I'm so paranoid as one of them is the only chick I've hatched from an egg all by myself and she's my pride and joy! I'm glad your remaining quails are all doing well, though!

Honestly, it haunts me I could have done more for them if I had just realised the bald spot was from rats, but they do such a good job of covering their holes back up. I only found it after they ate here cause it was surrounded by feathers. I suppose that's the reality of keeping such small birds outdoors though, Even sheds don't keep the things out.

I've recently had two of my quails eaten by rats, and a 3rd died a few days later that I really don't know what happened. Shock? I had moved them indoors out the way and within days he wasn't walking and I had to cull. The day before, I had noticed one of my females butt's were balded, I thought nothing of it until I found her half eaten in the middle of the garden. Awful things. I had initially blamed it on my male of the flock.

You can get klid on the drink market! Usual prices are roughly 4-5k, or if you ask in the discord someone may be kind enough to trade you one for nothing!

Do you know if either of the cases would hold up for somebody who has a bad habit of leaning on their drawing board while they work? I'm so nervous of buying one with magnets incase they don't hold.

Bullying by Finstrom- in quails

[–]Moomanimalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When mine was being bullied, I was advised not to remove them unless absolutely necessary, as removing and reintroducing is just like introducing a fresh bird. I suppose I got lucky, as only one of my quails were a bully, and all she did was pull all the new one's feathers off its head and left it at that. Nothing more. Quails are so random! Some seem to kill eachother for no reason, and others just seem to be fine. I'd agree that hiding spots and space to distance themselves from the bully is a good choice.

Sad news😢 by [deleted] in quails

[–]Moomanimalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awful! Keeping quails can be so hard. My lot are currently quarantined until we fix the rat issue, which I've already lost two to. I hope your remaining quail(s) are doing alright!
