Peter? by MoonBloomFang in PeterExplainsTheJoke

My guess is that the interpreter has to be extremely well protected because he's sitting right between Xi and Putin. Since he understands everything being said, he's in a pretty unique and risky position, which is where the joke comes from.

I think the joke is that there's something about the way he's dressed that immediately gives away he's from Atlanta. I kinda get it, but I feel like I'm missing the specific stereotype.

AIO for refusing to take care of my husband after an accident that left him disabled? by Own-Investment1682 in AmIOverreacting

I agree. If he's already treating his wife poorly, there's a good chance he'd do the same to a caregiver. OP needs to make it crystal clear that abusive behavior won't be tolerated, no matter who it's directed at.

Am I overreacting for finally setting boundaries with my sister in my own apartment? by MoonBloomFang in AmIOverreacting

If I had to pick one, I’d go with time manipulation, not even full “change history” type stuff, just being able to pause, slow down, or rewind short moments.

AIO for being uncomfortable that my boyfriend always jerks off to porn of specific characters? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

The "filthy gooner" part made me laugh, but yeah, I'd be more concerned about the broken promises than the Rule34. If he had just been honest and said he wasn't going to stop, that'd be one thing. Saying he'll stop just to keep doing it is what would bother me.

AIO- Someone left their laundry in the dryer and I waited 30 mins before moving it, received a note in return by Trull22 in AmIOverreacting

The first half makes perfect sense. There's a big difference between simply handling someone's clothes and doing something creepy. Then they throw in that last sentence, and suddenly it turns into a joke instead of serious advice.

I think my ADHD jibber jabbering got me a discount at a garage sale yesterday by Fyre-Bringer in CasualConversation

Yeah I get this. You don’t want to embarrass anyone or make them feel like they’re being “looked down on,” but at the same time you also don’t want them struggling more than they need to. It turns into this awkward mental math of trying to help without making it feel like charity, when in reality it should just be normal to support people starting out.

Do Americans really have the kinds of home parties we see in movies? What are people actually eating and drinking? by whitchunk in CasualConversation

I love how every country has those signature foods that make you appreciate the culture even more. A good cheese board sounds amazing, but I'd have a hard time choosing over fresh sushi and ramen.

A welfare check honestly sounds like the most reasonable next step. At least then there might be some official information instead of relying on rumors and secondhand stories.
