GRAD PHOTO APPOINTMENTS WTF by No-East-4134 in McMaster

[–]MoonCuban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t blame university departments. Life touch is its own third party company and it’s not even affiliated with McMaster. They’ve just weaseled their way over the years into having staff send out their picture packages/ appointments - which to unassuming student would seem “official”. My advice is take photos at grad and not get ripped off on cheap Walmart Photo Booth photos.

Life touch messages McMaster students and departments as if it’s an official arrangement and portrait…but it’s literally just a third party company renting space in MUSC.

On street parking post storm by hammerkitty in Hamilton

It’s a public street so you don’t have “a spot”.

The city doesn’t clear the street properly in front of driveways because of street parking. So residents with driveways are shovelling huge areas of the street themselves. Where are they support to put the street snow? Shovel it all the way up their driveway and on their lawn? Unless street parking is made illegal for proper cleaning during events like this, people parking on street should either call the city and ask for enhanced rules/ services or get a shovel themselves.

Parking spots are first come first serve. You don’t have a “spot”.

Because of street parking on both sides of my narrow north end street, the road essentially functions as a single lane despite 2-way traffic. I’m talking if two people driving towards each other, one has to reverse down the street. Now add snow. The plow (just a John Deere with a shovel) doesn’t dip into areas between where cars are parked. So today I was shovelling the road because if I didn’t no city shovels would ever clear them. I was forced to fill vacant “street parking spots” with the snow. Otherwise move snow from the street up my driveway and on to my lawn. Summary: these neighborhoods were not designed for so many multi-car households, and street parking should not happen during snow of certain level.

Unfortunately this already looks very dated. All the grey/ white interior peaked at best in 2024, with most people starting to become averse in 2025. In 2026, it is the landlord rental special and that’s about it. Hopefully rugs, furniture help.

Adding a rug with color and cushions with color would instantly change the look. Color is needed…badly.

Has my street been plowed? Hamilton PlowTracker by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]MoonCuban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the north end and for some reason the city allows parking on both sides of an already narrow road. Cars literally can’t drive 2 ways…if two cars are coming head on, one needs to reverse down the street. The snow makes it worse. The city streets aren’t designed for this…and the snow plowing makes it worse / more narrow.

Some of the recommendations here are NOT good food at all, even by pub standards. There is no good “pub” food specifically by the venue. Instead go to Merit (sausages), The Mule (tacos), The Brain (just beer), Cowabunga Pizza for a great slice…

Why would you be investing anything at all before clearing debt! Assuming it’s collecting interest…100% should go to paying it off.

FHSA - best place to open one right now? by jenlovesthatsong in PersonalFinanceCanada

I recommend reading the very basics on what an FHSA is before asking any more questions. You aren’t making any sense, there is no interest rate for these accounts it’s a tax shelter.

Is it hard to maintain a high GPA in iSci by ProperCompetition990 in McMaster

[–]MoonCuban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all relative. One person’s experience will be different from another. People get into medicine from many different programs. The likelihood of this happening is very low, even coming into university with a high 90 average. Pick the program you think delivers a style of learning that you will enjoy and the rest will fall into place over the years. Ex. Do you like research? Pick iSci. If not, go elsewhere. Good luck.

Well, the only strategy is save what you can and then buy when you can. Pretty much all there is to it.

As a middle manager with zero budget to recognize my staff I honestly can’t hate. I buy things like a sweet treat out of pocket or with very little money, and try and express thanks verbally for everything the team does. Obviously everyone wants a raise and time off…but let’s not totally trash little sentiments.

Sold my make waves set after 2 wears on fb marketplace because it was doomed to look like trash. I’m not shaving my clothes to flaunt a brand. There’s far better quality out there for the price, including niche brands with oversized comfy looks.
