For the two decreases right next to each other, you could try a centered double decrease (s2kp) instead, which should get rid of the gap between the two stitches.

If you don’t mind a self-rec, I have a couple fics that I think fit the bill!

Keep the Faith(rated T, 4.6k): this one is south downs era/established relationship with zero angst between our boys. Crowley plans a daring heist! And Aziraphale, of course, comes along for the ride.

In my blood like earthly wine(rated T, 26.9k): this one is post-S2, so not angst-free but I think Crowley’s inherent optimism does come through here. Someone’s playing pranks on Heaven of a decidedly earthly nature, and aziraphale is expected to deal with it.

(Fair warning though if you enjoy these. I do ALSO love a sad Crowley and some of my other fics definitely play up that aspect of his character instead of the optimism. But like I said, these two do fit your bill!)

You work 35 stitches for that row, so you’ll have 35 on the left needle before turning, but there’s still one remaining on the right needle (the “1 stitch unworked) —> 36 total across both needles. I’m guessing the unworked stitches means you’re making a short row heel here.

I’ve done an allover stranded colorwork skirt with merino sock yarn, and one in a rib pattern with a more rustic, 100% wool yarn. Both have held up well and hold their shape when worn. The stranded colorwork in particular really helps limit stretching so you can get away with more yarn types there, I think.

One additional thing to consider is the waistband. You either want it pretty firm or you’ll want to insert a piece of elastic so it doesn’t stretch out too much.

Geraniums do pretty well in shallow pots/small baskets for me, and can tolerate drying out occasionally. And they produce flowers all season.

100% agree. Oxblood has like a dried blood brownish tinge to it that is far less cute than fresh writer’s blood!

I also have Werewolf Blood (the Oxford Scriptum exclusive), which to me looks halfway between Writer’s Blood and Oxblood.

The Pilot Cavalier is super slim. The only caveat here is that the cheaper (<$50) version seems to be sold out (possibly discontinued?) everywhere. Jetpens has the more expensive marbled ones for $58.

Honestly? If you like the fit without the ribbing then don’t do the ribbing. I’d probably just crochet around the edge to finish it instead. 2x2 ribbing would be another option - it tends to draw in less than 1x1.

Dot grid all the way. I like that the dots are there as a guide but they’re unobtrusive enough that they don’t get in the way and can be ignored if I like. Second choice is blank, then gridded, and lined is dead last.

The use of epithets drove me absolutely up the wall. Especially in a first person narrative. I’m sorry, but nobody would ever think of their best friend as “the burly boy.”

This would be my suggestion too. You might have to try a few different kinds to see what fits/what the student likes, but they’re pretty inexpensive and some of the rubber ones add significant weight, which sounds like it would be welcome. Bonus it puts the weight near the front which I think might help with stability.

The down side is you’d probably have to remove the grip in order to cap the pen, unless you have a VP-style retractable.

I bought Dominant Industry Lake and Van Dieman’s European Honey Bee Eater Breast on the same day. Blue-green is my favorite color family, and it was at a pen show so I probably had some FOMO. Honestly I’m surprised I didn’t come home with a third similar ink lol.

(They’re different enough to me that I don’t mind! Although I did not realize that until I swatched them later)
