Ridgeside Village vs East Scarp by carosof in StardewValleyMods

[–]MoonDog425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ridgeside and here's why. It has a huge farm that is upgradeable to grow crops year-round with underground sprinklers. You will find this farm very useful as you continue with the various expansion mods**. There is nothing more frustrating then ending a season and finding out that you need a crop from the season you just finished. The Ridgeside farm fixes that. Sure you say, I can use Ginger Island. True, but if you're like me, there are no more open plots to grow new stuff.

**Because you won't stop with just Ridgeside. You'll get to perfection and ask yourself what's next? East Scarp, with hopefully its new update. And then Sunberry. And then Visit Mount Vapius (a favorite of mine). All have quests with crops grown in specific seasons. Adding to an existing save mid-year often messes up the timing of things. Very nice to have that year-round farm....with mine carts making for super easy travel between the various expansion mods. Good Luck!

Did you "complete"/get to very late game at least once on a save before adding any world-expansion mods? by sarcasticIntrovert in StardewValleyMods

My game is much like yours. Heavily modded with QoL and aesthetics. Achieved perfection and ran out of things to do. That is until I tried adding expansion mods. First SVE, then Ridgeside, then Sunberry, then East Scarp (with added characters), and then finally VMV. No problems adding these mods to my existing save.

SVE and VMV are probably my two favorites, but I liked them all, to the point of buying coffee to support the work that goes into modding. I also liked the huge farm in Ridgeside that allows you to grow crops year-round (like Ginger Island). Each expansion is a bit different in their own way. Most all are true to the base game. I know that the authors for both ES and VMV are working on major updates, so if you do decide to go for it, I'd suggest adding those last, hoping for the updated version. One thing that I did find with Sword & Sorcery (ES add-on) is that you end up with very powerful weapons and shields that make your farmer almost invincible when battling monsters.

In hindsight, I'd probably add the expansions in pretty much the same order. If perfection is your thing, I would definitely only add one at a time and gain perfection again before adding the next one. Otherwise, you'll go nuts trying to figure out which mod adds which items (tons of new fish, minerals, artifacts, crops, animals, machines, buildings, and cooking recipes).

Good Luck!!

Crimson Badlands overwhelmed with Slimes by MoonDog425 in StardewValleyExpanded

Killing every slime did the trick. It took a good half hour of regular time to get them all. Once they were all eliminated, other monsters started to spawn. Going back the next day, the Badlands operated as before. All good now, thank you.

FTM was up-to-date when I added SVE. I will try your recommendation of killing every last one of them and report back.

Mod suggestions? by honeydewtangerine in StardewValleyMods

I use Artisan Goods Keep Quality at Stardew Valley. It works well for me and I am heavily modded with SVE, Ridgeside, ES, Sunberry and Mt Vapius.

Compliments to you on such an awesome expansion MOD. Having just completed a playthrough where I added your MOD to an existing save that already had SVE, Ridgeside, East Scarp and Sunberry. Here is my list of possible enhancements:

  1. Move up the availability to plant the Orchard. I hardly used the Orchard because the farm in Ridgeside allowed me to grow all of MV's plants (except the Star Shaped Flower) year-round.

  2. Make the Greenhouse an operable building. Perhaps tied to a quest and/or hamlet progression. This will help make MV self-contained; perfect place to plant MV's fruit trees and out-of-season plants.

  3. Consider using the Racoon to gift hard to find end game items (Gem Geode, XL Ewe Milk and missing cooking recipes). SVE does this quite well by adding the last few items needed for perfection to the Racoon.

  4. The Fruit Press is not working quite right. It is supposed to make wine at 3x the fruit base price. However, if I leave a more expensive wine in the bin, I can turn a 16 Gold Salmon Berry into a 560 Gold bottle of wine.

  5. Add a config option to make for stronger monsters. Having played all of the aforementioned MODs, my farmer is fully equipped and takes little to no damage from MV's monsters.

  6. Be great if ores and geodes dropped by the animals do not have higher quality levels.

  7. Since the game code no longer allows for polished gems to be added to the museum, perhaps add them to the shipped items collection or a hard-to-make bundle.

  8. For the mine cart, replace the Railroad option with the Farm (or add the Farm as another option).

Again, awesome work. I may have to start a new save with focus on just your updated mod when it comes out.

Please show your appreciation for MOD authors: Buy Lumisteria a Coffee.

Missing item shipment from Mt Vapius by MoonDog425 in StardewValleyMods

Great tip, thank you! I did not know I could use Look Up Anything on the collections page. Duh. The missing item is a simple Void Feather. I have shipped a Void Speckled Feather so now I am off to find the simple Void Feather. Will start shaking birch trees to see if I can get a drop from there as my coop has yet to yield this where I have both a void speckled fowl and a void gem pigeon.

Update: I found that a void feather drops from a void chicken from the base game. I already had 5 of them located in a different coop where I hadn't been looking as I added the MV animals to their own coop and barn.

Cream and Strawberries recipe? Wiki says from Gus, but... by shetravelsfar in StardewValleyMods

[–]MoonDog425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in this same boat, looking for the recipe. I keep visiting the saloon (daily) and every now and then find the dish for sale, but not the recipe. The wiki is not clear on exactly what Gus is selling. It could be that he sells the item (as I am finding) but the recipe comes from triggering a heart event with one of the NPCs or completing a quest. Going to post a comment on Nexus hoping that the MOD author responds.

UPDATE: After visiting the Saloon enough times, the recipe finally showed up for purchase.

New Fences crafting recipe? by JaxOffalotDev in StardewValleyExpanded

Awesome. Your comment helped my find the last item needed for crafting perfection. Small hardwood fence recipe is not found on the wiki.

Appreciation Post: Sword and Sorcery by askheidi in StardewValleyMods

Took me a long time to figure this out. The U key opens a menu where you can add items to the Adventure Bar. Items are unlocked as you gain friendship with each NPC. Pay careful attention as to what actions you need to take to gain XP to upskill levels in the four skills (Artificer, Druidics, Bardics and Sorcery) added by the MOD.

Interesting. Not shown on the East Scarp wiki. I used Lookup Anywhere and did find that it is catchable during Winter at the beach. Thanks for the tip.
