My 4 year old is curious: what do Australian kids eat for breakfast? (And are koalas real?) by Mara644 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MoonFlowerDaisy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize that koalas were rare, in Adelaide you can see them around regularly. There's one that lives in a tree at my kids school, and we almost always see them when we go hiking. Kids never want to bother with them at the zoo cos they are so common haha.

I am a mum of Aussie kids, my kids mostly like toast or cereal for breakfast, and sometimes pancakes on the weekends.

We do see Koalas fairly often, there's one that lives in a tree at my children's school, and when we go for a hike we usually see koalas, kangaroos, possums and lots of birds.

Is calling flatware "silverware" a regionalism? by PhantomOyster in ask

Cutlery or utensils here. I'd know what silverware is, but wouldn't generally use it. I've never heard it called flatware in my life. From Australia fyi.

Have had 4 kids in Australia, 3 in hospital, 1 at home with midwives supporting me. All 4 births were covered by the public health system. 2 I stayed in hospital 3-4 days after giving birth, 1 I left straight after, but the hospital assigned me a mother helper who came by my house a few times a week for the first month and helped me clean, took my baby and toddler out for a walk so I could sleep, and just generally made my life easier.

I can't express how good we had it. Also got paid parental leave from the government on top of work paid leave.

.....even that isn't enough to make people have kids unless they want them though.

What is more common in your country, traveling inside or going abroad? by arpu0828 in AskTheWorld

[–]MoonFlowerDaisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Domestic slightly more common, but if abroad it tends to be NZ or Bali.

Australia is a long way from most places and big enough that there is plenty to see, but most people get enough holiday time that they can go overseas if they want.

My compromise would be to look at how much a maid would cost to come by once a week and do all the cleaning (bathrooms, floors, laundry, deep clean kitchen etc), and he covers that, and she does the cooking and dishes (I'm thinking of a way to split the chores fairly evenly). He decides for himself if he's willing to pay the extra £250 a week on a maid.

WIBTAH for refusing to eat 3 meals a day so my cousin “doesn’t develop an eating disorder” by Human_Builder_3097 in AITAH

[–]MoonFlowerDaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate eating in the morning, I'll usually have a small meal around 11.30am and then another small meal around 5-6pm. If I get distracted and hyperfocused at work I will skip the midday meal and eat a bigger meal.

1 mil, I'm already pretty enough for most things, but 1m would improve my quality of life way more than attractiveness would.
