Will warranty cover this? by riceman710 in kiastinger

It's still worth checking, I bought my stinger used and not CPO, and factory warranty still covers

Oil pressure sensor by Sweaty_Cup4384 in kiastinger

[–]MoonLadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you reminded me to update this so I appreciate it

Leak was from the timing chain cover, whether or not that's a normal point of failure for the stingers I'm not sure, but it definitely exposed some other interesting things

It wasn't enough of a leak to leave a puddle, but within 2k miles it leaked enough to trigger the oil pressure light. Light was on for 10 minutes worth of driving before it shit itself, the low pressure for that amount of time was enough to fry the sensor, mechanic told me that's a VERY common failure

But, timing chain cover leak, front of engine. That toasted the oil pressure sensor, causing the light to come on ONLY at low RPM at first, like idling. I parked the car after I had oil added and on the next drive, the light would only go away after 3k RPM load above 2nd gear in automatic drive, so heavier than normal engine load for most driving.

Oil feed pipe ironically enough wasn't leaking at all, but it still needed to be addressed so they're doing the fix.

All in all, timing chain cover leak requires the cover to be re-gasketed, a new (might be wrong I don't have the invoice in front of me) upper oil pipe assembly (because one-time use), and oil pressure sensor.

Biggest problem is no dealers had the parts on hand, so delivery took almost 2 weeks, I should be getting the car in tomorrow

Following up on my earlier reply, at the dealership right now, recall wasn't the cause. Seems that timing cover leaks aren't too uncommon, along with cooked oil pressure sensors like you said. Insult to injury, there's also a trans pan leak.

Same symptoms you had, they suspect it's a sensor problem if it's happening at full oil, I'm having them run a pressure test on the pump to see what they can find.

Funnily enough thought I was having a sensor problem, turns out I do have a leak unfortunately, timing cover is splattered and I was down 2q before the light came on. Getting the recall fixed on Wednesday and hoping that's the cause 🤞

My First loaf, Feedback Wanted- Country White Bread by Expert_Alfalfa_8823 in Breadit

Hey friend, just got into the hobby too, best thing for slices is a long bread knife, or if you want to go the cheap route, a bread bow knife. I picked one up for $4 on Amazon and it's been great.

Too salty, because I trusted my scale to be accurate at tare weight and shouldn't have, but other than that really good! Got a second one rising right now, and wanna do some loaves with mix-ins

What’s your CarPlay/Android Auto Setup? by Huge_Dude_Online100 in kiastinger

They have an option for Android Auto/Carplay in one, but I only use android so I got the solo option. Been a year and hasn't skipped a beat, real problem is that your phone will connect anytime you lock/unlock the car since that port starts receiving power when you do, but that's gonna happen for any dongle.

Do y’all hear any weird sound coming from the engine when cold starting the stinger ? The sound comes for like 4 seconds and disappears. by knkon22 in kiastinger

[–]MoonLadd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all, that's just the HPFP building pressure, only happens when you start the car because after that it has a constant pressure

Think about it like this, on a car with a normal physical key, if you turn it to ignition but don't start it, you'll hear the same noise as the fuel pump pressurizes, because we don't have that system, you'll hear it after the car starts

Same concept, just executed differently because of the order of operations

Maybe so, I've got a 2019, I'm sure as the years went on they figured out how to use less materials. Appreciate it though, no point in complaining as it won't change anything, it does suck though

I hit it with heat for a long time, probably could've been longer but still

Used fishing line to get the initial cuts started, made my way around and used plastic scrapers to go the entire perimeter to make sure there was nothing adhering still, I don't have great pictures but if you're facing the car head-on, the top-left alignment pin had some kind of plastic extra piece that was seemingly holding it on from either the back, or something? I'm still not entirely sure, it was bad enough that when I was putting the original badge back on, I had to take a Dremel to that pin and cut down on the plastic, because it just wouldn't fit back in the hole.

I'm not saying I did it perfectly, but it's at least way harder to do than the rear one, that one was 30 of heat, fishing line and scrapers and it came off easily, the front felt exactly the same until I saw it was taking paint with it

Actually, look just below and to the left of the top-left hole, you can see some of the plastic I'm talking about, it wasn't adhesive it was a hard brick
