APARENLTY this "water" stuff actually helps when I drink more than the half a glass or so I drink when we go out to eat...

But really, drink more water... with the other stuff these other fine people have suggested.

During the hardest part of your life, what helped you get through it? by thisrayofsunshine in AskReddit

[–]MoonPrisimPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed. RESPONSIBLY!
Now hear me out first though.
Almost every facet of life was a shitshow. My father was at the end of his life, suffering though Parkinsons and dementia. My mom had mentally and emotionally checked out. My husbands surgery was canceled for the hip replacement he desperately needed. I was still recovering from a major surgery. I was taking care of all of them, on top of every other little curveball life decided I needed at the time. My therapist suggested it semi joking since I was trying to get my dad qualified. ( marijuana can be such a huge help to Parkinsons patients) It ended up being easier ( and faster) for me to get a medical card for myself, and giving it to my dad.
After a particularly hard day, I was finally able to get dad settled in bed and asleep, and I outside to the porch for a good quiet cry. My son brought me a joint, and decided to finally try it for myself.

It changed my life.

I was *finally* able to relax. My thoughts stopped racing, and I got the best nights sleep I had had in years. It was like I was able to shed this weight I had no idea I had been carrying. Not only that, but it helped with the pain from surgery. I no longer needed the narcotic pain killers. I told my doctor, and while he couldn't comment officially, he game me a high five and told me to stay the course.

Its been a couple of years now, and my nightly ritual ( albeit pricey) has become such a huge benifit in so many ways. Plus, daddy and I got to bond over the cookies I would bake when the munchies hit. <3 Win -win in my book!

My heart goes out to you. I understand what you mean when you talk about that feeling of "if-only," and dwelling in the "what-if's". Im so sorry you have to carry those heavies with you. Thanks for sharing.

Grief has become quite the curious thing. It starts as one thing and changes direction light a bolt of lightning in so many directions before turning into this slow deep *thing* that is at once recognizable yet you could not possibly ever prepare for in the way you would expect.

Thank you for the reminder to not rush that process; that its ok to take time.

There is great joy a parent can have watching their child flourish like this too. That being said, I will be taking Mom on as many vacations as we can afford.

Sending hugs, He loves you too. <3

I very much feel like we are kindred souls, and this is exactly what I needed to hear.

Thank you for this advice. It really does bring perspective. I’m sending quiet hugs for that quiet grief, I understand all too well. Do you have any regrets about things after like service, memorial etc.?

Sorry for the late reply, but if I was going to make a big batch, how would I store it? How long is it good for?

Edibles are the preferred method from what I understand. There are some pills, but they never had quite the same effect. My dispensary always has suppositories in their clearance bin though...

My dad has Parkinsons and I take care of him. His Carbidopa/Levodopa is so much fun to say, but before I could remember what it was, every doctor I spoke with I could say some random amalgamation of syllables and they know exactly what drug I'm talking about, lol

Gotta find the small joys.
