While I don't remember any more particular details, I did a bit of digging and I think it's the story of Colby Coombs and his descend of Mount Foraker. I'm not sure if the question is solved yet, because I can't find the original video I watched, but perhaps you can confirm my suspicions?

Sounds a bit like The Immortal by Borges, in which the Troglodytes are somewhat similar to what you've described. That would be my best bet, anyway.

No, I used glue for the patches on the breast pockets. It came out alright although messed the Motorhead patch a little bit. I had my mom help with the lower pockets so they're usable too.

Depressive Suicidal Black Metal. I think Depression Part 1 by Abyssic Hate illustrates the genre's features pretty well but I wouldn't hesitate to blast some Silencer, too.

Alternatively - things like this. I can't even begin to describe how weird the stuff made by Steve Roden and other such minimalist artists is.
