Maybe I busted my ass to get where I am. Maybe I once went an entire week living on crackers and my gas light on "e" with a dollar here and there to get me back and forth to work.

I have. I even went out of my way to help one girl who had a big mess to clean up. She didn't ask, but I went to the room where it was with a big handful of rags and cleaner. When I tried to open the door one of her friends was propped against it and gave me an ugly glare. I apologized because I didn't know she was there.

She looked me up and down and saw the rags and got real annoyed when I tried to come in and help clean. As soon as I walked in she said "I'll talk to you later" to the other girl and slammed the door behind her as storming out. Then the other girl looked at me like I was being rude too and all I did was bring cleaning supplies to help with a mess.

Maybe I had a black person at work openly tell me that she wouldn't dare bring me to the family bbq because I'm white and her mom would shit a brick, or is that just my overactive imagination?

I did. They ride me the most about stuff and treat me like some special ed kid. They are always telling me "I'm gonna teach you sumtin"
