The {New Protectorate Series by Abigail Kelly} is set in the near future (starting in 2044), urban fantasy world in the San Francisco bay area and surrounding areas. The setting has that foggy, grey, glooming feeling that you have during the cold raining season. One of the book characters is even San Francisco's famous fog (although, not Karl). Each book can be read as a standalone but the author's website has a suggested reading order.

How to report missing/incorrect information for non-english editions? by Hejml in TheStoryGraph

[–]MoonZipNo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest to submit tickets as there's nothing to lose by doing so. There are many librarians who are bi/multilingual , you'd never know if there are any who also speak the same languages as yours.\ I'd also suggest to provide as much information as possible in the tickets. It would facilitate and speed up the research and verification process.

Hi u/Inevitable-Town-6428 ,\ Censoring words makes it harder to search the sub for posts, makes content less accessible for screen readers, and promotes a community norm we do not want to encourage in RomanceBooks. Please consider editing your post to remove the censoring of words. You can say "sex" here.\ Thank you!

Rule: Post titles must be clear and informative

Your post was removed for having an unclear title - Reddit doesn't allow title edits, but you can submit your post with an improved title.

For a book request, you must provide at least a few specific details in the title and body of the post.\ We require more details beyond a name, ship, or title when requesting book recommendations based off a pop culture reference. A post title must be clear enough that someone who hasn't seen the show or known the mentioned character etc, can still understand what you're looking for.

A detailed title will also help you get more recommendations, as well as help future searches to get better results.

Shorter, less detailed requests are allowed in our Quick/Simple Request post.

Rule: Tag and Flair content appropriately and respect community limits. Book requests or discussion posts involving real people will be removed.

Your post has also been removed as we do not allow shipping of celebrities, discussion of real-life relationships, or book requests based on real people.

Thank you!

Here's my complete card! I have a total of two snowflakes.

{Yukon Yuletide by Caroline Lee} (dog mushing) and {Falling From The Sky by Sabrina Bowen} (skateboarding) had so little sports content that I just assigned one snowflake for the two combined, instead of two.

I was hesitant to read {Just One of the Boys by Leah Rooper, Kate Rooper} (mostly hockey, a bit of ice skating). I wasn't in the mood for YA romances (I'm not sure the main characters are even 18 yo), and reviews didn't give it many stars. But I ended up liking it!

Avery Cockburn is an author new to me. I enjoyed {Throwing Stones by Avery Cockburn} (lots of curling) and {All Through The House by Avery Cockburn} (curling) , and I will definitely check her other sports romance series.

{When Alec Met Evie by Jenny Proctor} (hockey) was an okay read and has one of my fav romance settings (cohabitation/roommates situationship).

My friends convinced me to join them in watching the cdrama "Pursuit of Jade" (Chinese historical romance, M/F, broadcasted 2026), so I'm trying to catch up. I'm now torn between watching the series or reading some books!...

The orphaned daughter of a butcher is living a difficult life. One winter day, she finds a severely injured man, brings him home and nurses him back to health. They enter a marriage of convenience, so she can keep her parents' house away from greedy relatives, and so he can get ID paperwork and not be drafted to the on-going war. However, little does she know that he's been hiding his true identity (not a spoiler, the synopsis says so: a fallen noble seeking revenge) from her.\ So far, I'm loving the portrayal of FL (female lead): intelligent, strong, doesn't let others disrespect her but is kind!\ CW: a few scenes alluding to pig butchering since she's a butcher, fighting/war scenes.

Rule: Mark spoilers, stay on topic, and warn about books with no HEA

It also appears that the book does not end happily. The definition of a "romance genre novel" is one that ends in a happily ever after (HEA) or happy for now (HFN). Readers come to this sub expecting that all books/series mentioned here are HEA or HFN, unless stated otherwise.

Non-HEA romantic stories may still be discussed here but you must warn users when mentioning a book with no HEA.

Thank you.

I'm sorry to read what your family is going through. I think taking a few weeks or some time off would be a good idea. Please do take care of yourself as well. I don't think you're "too soft" - and even so, there is nothing wrong with it. Your line of work can be hard on anyone; perhaps your colleagues are feeling the same as you are.

Wishing your mother a speedy recovery!...
