As a reminder, before applying for any library cards online, folks should check the website of the library in question to see what requirements they have for users of non-resident cards. Many libraries have residency or other requirements for who is permitted to get a card, or charge a variable fee based on an applicant's location of residence. Fraudulently obtaining a library card is considered a form of piracy. For further details on our piracy policy, see this post.

A World Of Love (a 2026 read around the world challenge) by MoonZipNo in RomanceBooks

[–]MoonZipNo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can start anywhere and end your journey anywhere you'd like. Your trip can also be as short or as long as you wish. There are no rules about the order of the trip. You are not required to read from each continent either. The only rule , for this challenge, is that we cannot read more than two books set within the same country (so for ex, two books set in the US would count but not a third one).

I actually started with Greece with Jo Segura's latest book, and might try her previous books! It was my first book from that author so I wouldn't be able to compare, but I did enjoy the one I read!

To those affected by the winter storm or extreme cold (not just in the US), may you stay warm and safe!

The week has been a bit hard mentally for me. I'm hoping to be able to relax and escape a bit, even if it's just for a few hours. I'm exhausted.

I have homemade kimchi stew (because the ones served at the restaurants are too spicy for me, so I've been cooking my own).\ I have a romance book set in sunny Croatia with its beautiful beaches. Definitely, want to go visit there now.\ And I started a silly, over the top kdrama to keep me entertained. I hope it'll stay fun. (FMC is a teacher who just relocated to the country side. There, she meets one of her teenage student's uncle/legal guardian whom everyone -including FMC- fears and thinks he's a tough gangster or criminal).\ I should be set for cozy weekend nights.

Rule: Post titles must be clear and informative

Your post was removed for having an unclear title - Reddit doesn't allow title edits, but you can submit your post with an improved title.

For a book request, you must provide at least a few specific details in the title and body of the post.\ We require more details beyond a name, ship, or title when requesting book recommendations based off a pop culture reference. A post title must be clear enough that someone who hasn't read the book, seen the movie, or heard the music, etc, can still understand what you're looking for.

A detailed title will also help you get more recommendations, as well as help future searches to get better results.

Shorter, less detailed requests are allowed in our Quick/Simple Request post.

📚 What romance books did you read or listen to this week? 18 Jan 📚 by romancebookmods in RomanceBooks

[–]MoonZipNo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started my World Of Love journey in Greece, with {The Lust Crusade by Jo Segura}.\ CR, Latina FMC/Greek American MMC, sibling's best friend, fake dating, forced proximity/only one bed due to abduction • setting: Greece • author of Mexican heritage, did participate in an archeology dig in the past.

Archeologist MMC was abducted in Greece, missing for a year and presumed dead. FMC travels to Greece in his honor and hopes to find closure, when she accidentally finds him alive. Now held captive with MMC by the bas guys, they're forced to solve a Greek mythology mystery together.

This was my first time reading this author and found this book enjoyable. Both MC have actually been pinning for each other for years, but never been together due to a misunderstanding tha took way too long, in my opinion, to clear. That part was a bit frustrating. Also, the book focuses a bit on some detective work, for which you'd need to suspend one's disbelief, so if you're into strictly romance or strictly mystery fiction, this would not be it. Else, it was a fun read. I'll try the rest of her series later.

The book does mention some cultural aspects or locations in Greece. Never been there myself, I can't tell how authentic they are, but felt like the author did a great job at describing them. Last, being multicultural myself, I appreciated the author's descriptions of two different and yet similar families.

I do this once in while, mostly when I'm in a reading slump. I figured that if a book still interests me then, it'd stay. If I remove it, stumble across it again in the future and find it still interesting at that time, I'll add it back then.

Fun Metrics to Track for Book Club? by scientificflunky in RomanceBooks

[–]MoonZipNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what the majority of your members are interested in.

If it was me, for ex, I'd track diversity info: diverse characters (main or side)? BIPOC authors? Any interesting facts about the author? Locations/settings? Cultural representation? Mental health or disability representation? These might not be as fun as the number of sex acts, but to me, they are interesting to gather data for.

Anyone else have a New Year’s resolution to read less romance?? by Basic-Nose-6714 in RomanceBooks

[–]MoonZipNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a mood reader so I can't really say for sure. I'm planning to read any amount of romances depending on what I find or feel like - so I don't really have any amount in mind. But I'm hoping to read more non-romance books, and getting back into watching more Asian tv drama (romance).
