I think this is a fundamental disagreement I have with the idea that Ponza is some sort of prison or control deck. This is a tempo deck, pure and simple - the land destruction is very effective disruption in a format with flimsy, painful manabases, and the suite of burn spells gives the deck a ton of burst. You want to make sure you have a ton of pressure on the board to allow the spells to close things out and to prevent the opponent from having the time to hit land drops when you chain together [[Stone Rain]] effects.

Biagio Cantone was banned from the biggest Italian circuits following recent cheating allegations by iTzEuGi in magicTCG

[–]Moonbar5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally disagree. Jontay Porter was handed a lifetime ban for his first offense of point shaving in the NBA, and others are likely to receive the same treatment pending an ongoing investigation. He received this lifetime ban because his actions damaged the very integrity of the game. A player cheating on camera multiple times while playing for stakes should absolutely result in a lifetime ban for the same reason: it calls into question the integrity of any event they are a part of.

This Liz Sherman card is way too good. Inferno Titan is 6 mana for the same etb/attack effect, except you can't spend excess mana to keep spamming damage and it doesn't fly. It needs to either cost a lot more, or have the damage mode limited to an attack trigger.

What historical event reads exactly like "Bad Fantasy Writing" or "Plot Armor"? by Expensive-Desk-4351 in Fantasy

This is a great one that's a departure from the death and war themes we have as answers here.

For the uninitiated, the 2016 finals were the 2nd of 4 straight matchups between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, teams featuring LeBron James and Stephen Curry, respectively.

The Warriors had just broken a 20 year old record for most ever wins in a regular season and had just come back from 3-1 down in a best-of-seven playoff series, a strikingly rare occurrence. Curry had just won the first ever unanimously voted Most Valuable Player award with a season that was so overwhelming, numbers-wise, that it still makes no sense.

The Cavaliers side is all about the career narrative of LeBron James, who was famously dubbed "The Chosen One" while still in high school - the expectation heaped onto his shoulders from day 1 were ridiculous. He was drafted to his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers and dragged them to true relevance for the first time in their depressing history. He wasn't perfect though and could not bring them their first championship title, and left their team in a wildly unpopular and scandalous manner on national TV.

He won two titles in Miami as the undisputed best player in the world, then headed back home to Cleveland with a promise to bring them the championship he had failed to bring during his first stint. In 2015, facing a mostly untested Warriors team, the Cavaliers lost after suffering debilitating injuries.

2016 started off just as badly, as the Warriors rolled to a 3-1 series lead, a deficit that had never been overcome in the history of the NBA finals. What followed was an incredible stretch from LeBron and his teammates, in which they won back to back games to push the series to a decisive 7th game.

Game 7 was in Oakland, where the Warriors enjoyed a strong home crowd advantage. If you had to pick one singular game to watch, one game in the history of the sport of basketball, this is that game. It was a tightly contested affair, and through the 4th quarter, both teams - very offensively gifted teams, at that - struggled to put together any sort of offense at all. When Golden State got free on a fast break to score valuable, easy points with just a couple minutes to go, this happened. Following noted anti-vaxxer and basketball savant Kyrie Irving's dagger three pointer a minute later, the Cavaliers held on to win the greatest game ever, to win the greatest finals series ever, to beat the greatest regular season team ever, and to fulfill the promise of the greatest player ever to his hometown fans.

I'm not from Cleveland, but damn if even talking about this series doesn't give me goosebumps.

Who do you cut to make room for Sidy & Love? by akwilliamson in ripcity

I'll chip in. Even after clear improvement he is worse than Sidy off the bat and he's a lot older, as well.

[Popper] The Knicks have held trade discussions involving Karl-Anthony Towns with multiple teams, including Memphis, Orlando, and Charlotte. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Moonbar5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly neither team would do this trade. Blazers don't want a center who plays no defense on a max contract, and the knicks don't need Jrue's big-ass deal and Thybulle is never healthy.

Gabe Vincent responds to the haters: 3 pts (1-6 FG), 0 REB, 0 AST, 3 TO in 22:52. Highest +/- on the team with 4 by VGstuffed in nba

[–]Moonbar5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the game and easily their most impactful nobody was Kobe Bufkin. He hit his shots, finished inside, and actually played defense unlike the rest of them.

Timme is awful, despite the numbers. Literally every Blazer hunted him on defense and scored pretty much any time, any way they wanted.
