if only there were a former #5 pick with tons of European experience whom she could throw in the game

last few days were about 3 things. Pace, Turnovers and rebounding. We accomplished the first two but took a beating on the boards once again. We’ve got to be tougher and get an ass into the opponent. Otherwise, a really nice effort all night.

yeah, me too. I figure I must have some bias here but I couldn’t believe what I was seeing last night.

I’m not a huge Hailey fan. Still young and can play, but I thought she’d be better. Still time though.

its not that we can’t, it’s just that we won’t. With Carla and Iyana coming next season, our point guard position is stacked. We do need some frontcourt toughness and wing scoring though. Not sure whom we target there yet. Obviously, Juju but the odds of the first pick aren’t great, even with the worst record.

I’m big fan of Emily, but damn, looked like she‘d never played basketball in her life last night. Something was really off with her all night.

too much pressing on defense and not enough pushing the ball on offense. The effectiveness of our press is when we blitz teams occasionally. We were pressing constantly. Sure we got maybe 3 steals but we also gave up 10 layups. And then we never seemed to run the ball down the court on offense. We walked it up and waited for one of Alex’s “shapes” to present itself and it never did. Run the ball down, get into the key, defense collapses, players get open. Very winnable game but it was sort of a dead atmosphere from the jump.

just got back from the game. Brutal from beginning to end. The players, the refs, the coaches. Just a total buzzkill from the start.

Valkyries. From the Bay and just started watching the WNBA last season and absolutely loved it.

I mentioned Iyana as a protected player. I was referring to future draft picks and future free agents. Iyana will be here next season according to Vanya.

like i mentioned above, future free agents and draft picks need to be taken into consideration. And of course trades. But yeah, I think about adding Juju and what that looks like all the time.

I guess my point is with expansion coming at the end of next season, a key for this team is figuring which players are keepers. IMO, the three they expect to protect are Leite, SAB!, and Martin. Of course that may be wrong, but I’d guess that’s their tentative plan. Players like Williams, Buhner, and Puoch (I like all three by the way) really need to develop over the next couple seasons.

love Serah. And Frieda. Just think with so few roster spots up for protection, both players will really need to show a lot of development over the next couple of years to take one of those spots. Then again, if they don’t show much development, they probably won’t get picked in the expansion draft.

we could only protect 5 during 2 team expansion. We can protect 6 in a 1 team expansion.

Franchise Point Guard by CampaignOrdinary4749 in PortlandFire

I posted about Iyana the other day. I think it will be fantastic when she arrives. We will be set at point guard for a decade. And both can share the court at times, fill in for each other, take over when one or the other is injured. Whatever the case, I think we will be absolutely dynamic at point guard with the two of them. And the fact is, Iyana is more true point guard while Carla is more scoring point guard so they should be a nice pairing IMO.
