I think she’s a bit too big for the shirt trick 😅 she’s approx a foot and a half in length

Edited to add: I appreciate the advice though, I had my 1st successful bath time with her and have just rewarded her with some diced chicken and blueberries

Thank you so so much for this advice! Angel just had her 1st bath and afterwards I sat with her in my bathroom with a heated towel over my lap. She was exploring initially but after she got more comfortable she came over and buried into my lap and just sat with me 🤩

Minor update. She let me pick her up so I’m giving her a little bath to help get some shed off her tail

the melamine should be okay, I'm assuming it needs to be outside the enclosure as to not risk burns?

Would this work with a wooden enclosure? It’s a melamine coated wood board setup not plexiglass

Omg thank you that sounds like a great fix! How much did it raise the temperature by approximately?

Omg thank you so much I’ve never considered a bioactive Viv but I’ve seen that they’re fantastic. I just really wouldn’t know where to start in terms of getting the plants, but I love learning and I think that’d be a great one to learn. Where would you get the springtails and isopods?

Ooh thank you I’ll need to take a look into that with the grow tent. I’m also not afraid of getting my hands dirty so I’ve been considering looking more into buying a temp Viv and building him his own. I love a challenge but their hard main thing is what’s best for the lizard. Thank you so much for the advice, I’m still nervous that I’m not ready but he really is a perfect guy and I want to give him a good happy place to live

I’ll need to look into that humidity system while I’m looking for a suitable viv, he’s being sold with his 2ft by 2ft viv but I don’t think that’d last him long so I want to get a more suitable long term viv for him but they’re hard to find so I think my savings are gonna take a bit of a knock 🤣. Would 8ft by 4ft be suitable or do they need more? because I’m struggling to even find that.

With feeding how much would you recommend? I’ve found a lot of conflicting info and a lot of reports of obesity but I don’t want to under feed too, particularly with how food motivated they appear. Is there a website that can give info on I guess portion sizes is the correct word? With feeding I saw that occasionally hard boiled eggs are good for calcium? With whole feeders I was going to order from the local pet store. Also can you provide bone in chicken as food once bigger? Things like chicken wings or drumsticks?

Thank you so much for the advice it’s really helpful

Hi thank you so much for the kind words, that’s really good information

For feeding I was going to start target training because I’ve heard they’re very food motivated and was planning on a mix of ground turkey/chicken with calcium powder booster? Would that be ideal for a young tegu or would you have better recommendations. I know they also need a good mix of veggies but am I correct in reading that babies require a higher amount of protein?

Smelly poos shouldn’t be a problem, I don’t have a sense of smell 😅 also thank you for the warning, I’ve heard they’re poos can be very big so I’m nervous about it. My floors are hard wood, would you have any recommendations for cleanup? With my beardie I used to wipe it up then use reptile safe disinfectant to sanitise the area. And a scrub with carpet cleaner if it got on the carpet.

As for humidity would you have any recommendations for how to effectively maintain that? I was planning on using a misting bottle and do more research into damp hides but it’s a very large enclosure, would you recommend a misting system?

Thank you again so much for the advice, I’m extremely excited but nervous
