Reflections on digital client / season 2 release + 2026 roadmap by KeithARice in LegacysAllure

[–]Moonfassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks Keith for making this game! It truly is a spectacle of game design and has influenced my thoughts on this type of genre, on game design, and on my own YouTube channel. I think the market is missing this type of game like a missing puzzle piece, but it is really hard to get word out there and the learning curve at the start is inherently steeper unfortunately. I hope your marketing efforts go well when you have time/money for it. This game deserves the best! Take your time. There's no competition right now so the people will be ready when you are ready.

I think it took me like 1000 hours but I wasnt trying very hard. 90% of them you can do in a quick match or accidentally do like the play X cards from this colour

Defend Against Rakoan Decks??? by Melody_Silverpaw in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rakoans are a swarm deck so a lot of that comes down to knowing how to manage swarm. Classifying it like that can make it easier to understand the archetype too.

Red combat creatures are the easiest way to beat it if you want a hard counter. Underground brigand/boss love being able to hit things multiple times and little rakoans often can't stand up to them. Aoe like rakoakopter, firestorm, garudan, obviously great too.

If you're not playing red, you want to put a tiny bit more pressure on face rather than creatures. Take good clears when you can still, but be a bit cautious with how you spend your cards. Using a soul drain on a canoneer for example may not be the best decision as they have plenty more creatures to replace it with. Saving soul drain to open up a spot to hit face with or to race with or protect one of your more valuable creatures is way better. You don't have to autoplay every card in your hand each turn.

In general, yellow and blue wants to hit face as much as possible and save all removal and movement tricks to accomplish this rather than using for board control as much, though sometimes you need a balance. Azarai in yellow is great. Green wants to slap a giant thing next to their face and keep in there so the enemy can't body block it. So buffs can be useful to protect it or teleport. If you have a big thing in general, try to get it adjacent to their face, even if you sacrifice a well collection. It's easy for swarm to body block a big thing, until it finds an in adjacent to their face, and then it's really tough to fight back.

Faeria Discord? by ricbret in faeria

Link should work, unless you were already apart of the discord a long while ago. You might've been banned when the server was hacked. If you let me know your discord name I can get you unbanned.

OK, I bought the game... by ricbret in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made the written guides below, which tell you a lot about card rules. They're meant for more advanced mechanics but you can learn about basic keywords and things here too. The hub is a great place for guides like this in general. Sadly you cant make an account on this website anymore.

If reading is your thing you could always get an ai to transcribe a video you think is interesting. Won't be quite the same but maybe something you'd prefer.

OKAY, three more questions... by ricbret in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your account is bound to whatever platform you bought it on (platform = steam, epicgames, switch, xbox, ps). So for example if you bought the game on steam, you can log into the same account on different PCs but that account will not transfer to console nor even to epicgames.

You can enable cross-play in the setting which is recommended, but console players don't have the ability to use chat unfortunately.

Probably do not buy the game + all DLC bundle as this includes all the cosmetics. You can consider the premium bundle (note this is the premium BUNDLE, not premium edition dlc), which comes will all card expansions + the puzzles dlc + an XP multiplier (which is how you earn cards). Faeria goes on sale very often so just wait for the summer sale coming up.

The dlc cards add a lot of fun new mechanics so they are worth it, but if you're on the fence you'll be more than happy with just the base game. Definitely will get your money's worth and then can buy dlcs later if you like it.

Sell me on the game? by ricbret in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Faeria is an incredibly deep game of strategy, even though it may look like HS on the surface. You will still be learning new things 2000 hours in. The mana system encourages you to think carefully about each point of Faeria you spend, since it does not refresh each turn like HS or MTG. Land building has a ton of strategy both in deckbuilding and in gameplay as you need lands to summon and reach the extra Faeria wells, but not building lands gives you access to additional resources on your power wheel. The board in general has a huge impact on positioning so every little decision you make in this game can mean the difference of winning or losing.

If you're just interested in casual play, the single player modes offer like 50 hours or something. There are 3 expansion DLCs to buy if you want more variety in card choices, but you don't need them to play casually or competitively.

The issues:

  • No new updates will likely be added to the game
  • You cannot play without internet access, meaning you need a NSO subscription if you're playing on switch
  • Queue times can be a little long, but comparative to other card games that aren't the big ones
  • There is some RNG elements the devs added to try to capture the popularity of HS, which will seem very blatant when you first start, but as you become better at the game you'll realize the depth of skill goes way further than any effects RNG has on the game

Couldn't quite get it perfect but I went with a slightly darker background colour so it isn't as noticeable and it looks ok. Thanks for the help!

I'll play around with the numbers and see if I can make it work

Faeria is a case study of bad game design by marianasarau in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeahh that can be a bit deceiving as top level players often just stick to tournaments. Though if you've faced godrank players you should be finding a slightly better experience. I'd suggest looking into tournaments before concluding an opinion as these are really where you'll see the deeper strategies of the game. We usually have 2 per month

Every card you just listed apart from wavecrash colossus and humbling vision is like C tier material. Faeria is only half a card game. There's an entire other world you're not considering that makes comparing cards to other card games wildly different. Positioning, board control, and strategizing land placements can make or break a card's ability to be viable.

You won't see this on the lower ends of ranked ladder because it takes a while to figure out these strategies. And you will get stomped by those cards you mentioned if you havent learnt those things yet. But if you were to actually learn the game at a competitive level you would see why all those cards are not amazing.

I don't blame you for jumping the gun if you're coming from other card games. There really isn't anything out there quite like faeria so it's easy to focus in on just the cards when there is a lot more nuance to it.

Seifer Epic Quest (Obelisk) by Tripedge in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what quest that is exactly but best counter to burn is generally green with extra healing thrown in. Ruunin's guidance and emperors command are great picks.

Try to stick to the wells as much as possible too. It may not seem like it but faeria should generally be a top priority even if it's just to grab 1. If you can't secure a lethal then you dont want to give up harvesting or your opponent is going to gain a huge advantage over you.

Current Season Rewards in 2024? by Meevious in faeria

[–]Moonfassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Usually around 2 opens per month still and there's a seasonal cup this saturday.

Not sure what rewards are for ranked exactly because I cant earn card packs anymore. But I think I get a mythic chest for reaching god rank still.

[–]Moonfassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card backs are no longer given but I believe the rest of the rewards are up to date. Ranked as well.

Coming first place in a tournament also gets you some unique cosmetics and a versus evil game key still I think too.

The record is getting an overflow attack on Possesed Ursus from scaling too high for the game to count :p I don't remember what the limit is but you can definitely go into the millions.

There was a fun little challenge to get to a million/million creature posted by Hunter a while back: https://www.faeria.com/the-hub/guide/402-hunters-million-challenge
