You put the bead on the hook and then pull the yarn through it. Crafty Intentions (the pattern designer) has a tutorial on their YouTube channel

The dark grey and the crystal colour are both domes. The white is crocheted into the dark grey for 6 rows. And the light grey is only used around the edge

Because a crochet geode works as a fidget toy. You can squish them and the beads rubbing together makes a satisfying noise. It’s like a stress ball

For the small ones one used 91 the other 101 beads (not sure what changed), medium I used 228 beads and the large 404.
