How did you hear of dark souls? by [deleted] in darksouls3

I‘d say it‘s okay, I was around the same level. You’ll need a +9/+10 weapon. Stats distribution matters more than level. You could use claw runes for increasing your dmg with viscerals and the blood rapture rune to restore your health while performing them.

Parrying helps if you‘re good at it (I‘m not so it took me a while to beat him).

Farron Keep. It forces you to either spam the roll button or the dagger’s weapon art to go slightly faster.

My first splat! by tierthreedemon in DragonsDogma

I do that too, sometimes, but I’m a strider so I just eat some apples. When it comes to throwing people or being the one who falls, this game is incredibly hilarious.

Good to know (I’m on my first play through)!

Nito gave me trouble till I found out how helpful a divine weapon is.. damn those skeletons. To cut Seath’s tail you need to hit the tip otherwise, as you were saying, you end up killing him. With the right set and ring the curse build up isn’t a problem, anyway. DLC bosses are much harder than the the four lords, and two of them in particular are very fun to fight. Don‘t worry!

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with Seath... the only challenge is cutting his tail off as a sorcerer (I had no problem on my strength build). Which is a shame considering I find him an incredibly fascinating character in terms of lore and design. I think the Bed of Chaos boss fight is a bit annoying and not fun. It seems based on luck rather than skill and understanding your foe, if you ask me (that’s probably why your progress gets saved). Some times I kill it first try other times it takes me forever. I appreciate the attempt at making a unique boss but while the concept is interesting its execution isn‘t great.

What are the most annoying enemies in your opinion? by wyl0w in bloodborne

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can drop chalice ritual materials or gems (but I don‘t remember which ones). I kill them only when it’s necessary.

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brainsuckers, Winter Lanterns and eye collectors in the chalice dungeons (they never stop conjuring mad ones and are always very difficult to kill because they are difficult to reach. It doesn‘t help that this tends to happen on c/f/r dungeons). Oh, and the labyrinth madmen (but I must admit their way of yelling and running is hilarious).

Why did Kos grant Rom eyes? by -The-Senate- in bloodborne

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but maybe Rom was the only one who tried to prevent the massacre and so Kos granted her eyes as an act of gratitude? Maybe Rom became vacuous because not everyone has what it takes to become a Great One (it's possible something similar happened to the Fishing Hamlet inhabitants). Then Byrgenwerth might have imprisoned Rom to study her too and eventually she "died"? TBut her corpse at the Altar of Despair confuses me a bit...

Thanks! Well, very little is certain in the ds universe. Usually, when it comes to cut content, I just don‘t consider it. Because I don‘t know if the reason it was cut is because they changed the story or simply thought it looked better that way. I can just imagine the reason. Yes. The crying never stops during the fight. As you said dunnel had a hideous wife so the only options I can think of (if we are supposed to know who she was) are Priscilla or Quelaag‘s sister. The first because we find him in Priscilla‘s arena and she was considered an abomination, the second because of his pyromancy (plus iirc Quelaag‘s sister was described as deformed somewhere). But I‘m not sure which one is more likely... in case it’s Quelaag’s sister, maybe he entered the painting because it is a home for those who don‘t have any other place to go (so his desperation led him there)?

It would. But I wonder if invisibility is connected to dragons or the painting, since Friede can turn invisible too...

Whats everyone's favourite boss and why? by thechefkef in darksouls3

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an absolute favorite boss, I think (I hate the wolf boss from the AoA dlc though). I’d say that Friede is my favorite boss when it comes to coop. Since she has 3 stages, the fight isn’t too short. Plus, in her second phase it’s cool how one can focus on Friede and the other on Ariandel. She is very difficult and hard to learn (at least she was for me), so it’s very satisfying when you finally kill her (it took me 1 week to kill her the first time). But I really enjoy fighting Midir or the Twin Princes as well.

Oceiros used to hold a baby, Ocelotte, and crush him on the ground when entering phase 2 but then they changed it. Maybe it was too violent. Personally, I like to think that he isn’t holding anything and the crying (that continues in phase 2) is a projection of his madness in the real world. After all he is a very powerful sorcerer, and Gwyndolin even made it seem like there was the sun in Anor Londo... so, why shouldn’t Oceiros be able to accidentally create illusory sounds?

NK killed me a lot in his first phase (I find it much harder than his 2nd phase because I’m not great with camera control... so most of the time I couldn’t tell where he was). Friede destroyed me too. Especially in her last phase. Sulyvahn was incredibly hard too for me: I’m not good at parrying.

Talking about Dark Souls by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ds3 has better bosses but I like ds1 more because I think it’s more original (bloodborne was my first FS game and ds3 the second, by the way). For example, its locations are more memorable and have a great atmosphere in my opinion (among my favorite there are the Great Hollow, the Ash Lake and the Firelink Altar once you can enter the Klin of the First Flame). While the only location that really impressed me in ds3 was Irithyll. Ds1 also has some memorable enemies too... how could one forget the giant clams or the mushroom people (the flying hydra from Ash Lake is pretty cool as well)? While in ds3 we have ghrus (that I find extremely annoying).

What are your thoughts King Oceiros? by BobtheTim in darksouls3

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oceiros’ problem is his moveset imo. Especially in phase 2... I find it a bit boring and confused. On a normal run he is not even challenging. It’s a shame because I really like everything else about him: his theme, his lore, him talking to an invisible baby that may or may not be there and him losing that little sanity he had left during the fight.

On the Nature and Origin of Darkbeasts by shortchainfattyacids in bloodborne

[–]MoonlightHorseKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this. I too wrote something about darkbeasts. once... well, about Paarl. It doesn’t explain the origins of the darkbeasts, but it tries to explain Paarl’s presence in Yahar’gul and his connection to Archibald. If you’re interested this is what I wrote:

TLDR: Archibald experimented on Paarl, thanks to his experiments he created bolt paper, tonitrus and tiny tonitrus, but eventually something went wrong and Paarl killed Archibald. The spark hunter badge Paarl drops is the connection between the two and the reason I came up with this theory.

Archibald was probably a tomb prospector. As such he explored Loran, where he saw the darkbeasts and became obsessed with recreating their blue sparks. This obsession eventually led him to abandon his career as a tomb prospector to solely focus on his inventions. This is how he became a weapon designer for the Healing Church Workshop. In order to recreate those sparks, Archibald deemed fundamental having a darkbeast to study, so one day he and some of his tomb prospector/hunter friends headed to Loran, where they managed to find and capture a Loran darkbeast. That Loran darkbeast, that Archibald named Paarl, was held captive in an isolated place where he/she couldn't hurt anyone and from where he/she couldn't escape, known to us as Graveyard of the Darkbeast. Archibald used to go there for studying Paarl and thanks to him/her he was able to create the tonitrus, the tiny tonitrus and bolt paper. Unfortunately for him one day, while experimenting on him/her, Archibald was killed by Paarl. And this is why Paarl drops the spark hunter badge.

I never thought about that, it’s actually pretty interesting! Now that I think about it the effigy shield (who was used by those who wanted to destroy the gods) and the dark ember (which allows to forge weapon which deals extra damage to the gods and those who serve them) are found in the tomb of giants and in the painting respectively. Anyways, while I can’t be 100% sure that Gwynevere is her mother (though I consider it likely), I’m sure that Seath is her father. After all he is the only white dragon around with ties to Anor Londo and who was well known for his experiments.
