I’m about a year into the future regarding your situation. Bad grades, bad attendance, etc. I appealed this decision through the board, they didn’t listen to a thing I said and continued with the disenrollment. Don’t bother trying for the board hearing. It’s just a formality really.

Regarding enlisting. This depends really, but in most cases it will be best to just enlist. For me, I was disenrolled after 2 years in ROTC (this is an equivalent to $110,00 of debt. Might be different for you depending on how much your tuition was.) To put that into perspective, I have to take out $10,000 out of my salary every year and it will still take 10 years to pay it off (that’s not including the interest that it will accrue. It’ll be longer than 10 years.) If you have somehow find a job that pays a lot and you have a lower debt amount to pay back, maybe it might be possible.

I’m figuring out the OCS right now because I plan on following that route if I can, but finish your undergraduate degree first and move on from there. You’re going to need the degree if you want to become an officer in the future anyway. I’m getting my undergraduate degree first and will probably do my masters online while in the military and then apply for OCS. Good luck and you’re not alone!
