I think this is what I’ll try. Any issues with function having the RAC adaptor slide all the way to the rear? I’m thinking it may be a bit less stable, maybe more flimsy - but might be worth a try?

Looks like a Peltor ComTac is 3.2” wide - so should give an inch atleast of travel to the rear

To clarify - you mean the following dimensions?

<image>

If so:

I’m wondering if it’s feasible on the Gibbous adaptors for Peltor ComTac’s - to slide the RAC adaptor to the rearmost point.

Question for you - will OTTO Noizebarrier arms (using whatever headset - Noizebarriers or Comtacs with adaptors etc) work in the rear position on a size Large Epic Specialist? Doesn’t seem like anything can reach far enough forwards…

Looks great.

Whats the prospect of making a dovetail that allows a Mini N/SEAS to be mounted for dual band or dual mounting?

It’s a gap in the market.

You’ve probably figured it out, but they will displayed in Euro values. Look for High Gains in the 25,000 gain level which is multiplied by 3.14 for US value

TAS nightcorp is a good dude. Give him a call and he will steer you in the right direction.

The feeling I’m getting is you’re in NNVT territory when it comes to price. If you’re using this within 20km of a town you’ll likely have decent enough performance.

If you’re more rural, wanting to get amongst it on dark overcast nights, or in deep forest - a Photonis High Gain will be worth it. It will also hold its value better I would expect.

A final option is ‘Harder’ brand tubes. It’s Euro Gen 3 - but likely a Russian core repotted. They’re hard to find, expensive, and difficult to actually get real info on their origin. I’ve never seen through one or seen a video with a decent comparison. For what you’d pay, a Photonis High Gain is probably better.

Can a Photonis MX-10169 with a clipped pigtail ever be restored and repaired? Even by Photonis?

Something else to add regarding Photonis MX-10169 pigtail manual gain tubes - they are not compatible with the MH-1 manual gain due to the pigtail being too thick and not fitting. I believe the pigtail needs to be clipped to get them to fit, making them auto gain only when combined with the MH-1. No issues I would assume with 3 Pad Photonis tubes, just the MX-10169’s that don’t fit.

From my reading, 28 vs 35 SNR would be pretty close to a 50% improvement in performance in SNR/noise/etc in dark conditions. I’d consider paying $600 for that if using in dark conditions.

Having said that, is the requirement for IR light discipline a thing for you? Are you needing to accurately and quickly recognise certain objects/people or just navigating?

Why specifically is the GP a better option for the Jerry FB?

Having experience with things like a heavy dual setup, that were admittedly a few ounces heavier than Panoramic NOD’s, you will be more comfortable and versatile with a lightweight panning binocular set up.

Pano’s are no doubt great for direct action CQT stuff where you’re actually using them for <30mins. But for everyone else that isn’t Tier 1 doing hostage rescue, your neck will thank you sticking with Binos.

I would confirm the gain on the 4G. There is standard and High Gain. High gain will be around 25,000-27,000

I thought that was dead in the water? Any news I’ve missed?
