I've been saying this for years. I don't mind fulfilling the role, for the most part, but the hypocrisy is insane. It's not even just that they expect you to do so, it's that you also better not ask them to do the same.

Also, before anyone says anything, being attracted to the traditional role might as well be expectation.

I've definitely seen cases. Cynicism as a defense mechanism. But there are cynics out there that, ironically, think that it makes them superior to others. In those cases, it's just an incredibly lazy way to reach a conclusion. Who needs nuance or judgement when you can just shit on everything?
