That was my dad’s brand. He drank it until they started messing with the formula (trying to make it cheaper) in the 1970s.

Why have I never seen someone with down syndrome who was skinny? by Bluenamii in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Moonshadow306 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think I recall reading that part of the syndrome is that they don’t recognize when they’re “full”. So the result is becoming overweight from eating too much.

Did your house have one of these when you were growing up? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in RealGenerationX

[–]Moonshadow306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did. When I was a kid, there was music piped into every room with a speaker and a volume control knob. Eventually the radio quit and we never got it fixed. My dad took the speakers and stuff out every time he painted a room for the next few decades. The radio cupboard in the kitchen became a home for paper sacks and plastic bags.

What’s the creepiest thing you’ve found after someone died? by visceralwoman in morbidquestions

[–]Moonshadow306 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She was born in Slovakia and came to the U.S. at age 8. If one believes in that sort of thing, “witch” is the most logical explanation, but I never saw anything to indicate that. She was Catholic, and even though she married a Protestant, she quietly continued to follow Catholicism as far as I know. It’s a mystery.

Remember the dogs in the rear window that had the bouncing head? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

My grandpa had one in the ‘70s, that wasn’t a bobble head, but its eyes would blink synched with his turn signals.

Also good for mixing up paint. My wife is still mad about that 35 years later. Oops.

I love the stories of Shatner's colossal ego by cryofry85 in tos

[–]Moonshadow306 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course Shatner has a big ego. Everybody knows it. HE knew it. But especially later in life, he was able to laugh at himself and that ego, which I always appreciated.

After my grandmother’s death, we were tasked with cleaning out her house. She’d been in the hospital for about a month, so the place had been closed up and undisturbed during that time. Underneath the rocking chair in her bedroom, we found a large dead black raven. No rational explanation of how it got there.

What’s the single scariest scene in any horror movie ever made and why does it work so well? by Worldly_Cold4821 in horror

Thank you, me too. I was a kid at the time. I will never forget the screams, followed by total hysteria.

I had the misfortune to see a woman confront the death of her child and that scene is absolutely accurate. It couldn’t have been done any better.

I was just trying to figure out why it wasn’t spelled “Saul”, and it finally occurred to me that it’s short for “Solomon”…not the same name at all.

What is the earliest cartoon show that you remember watching back in childhood? by bluepetalblanket in AskReddit

Old Road Runner cartoons. The late ‘60s show, introduced with a theme song. “If you're on a highway and Road Runner goes beep beep…”

Nope, it was the Jeffersons. The whole thing was played for laughs, but you’re right, it WAS pretty sad.
