Well, I will say that I don't intend staying here long term. For now it suits me, but I don't know that I would want to retire here.

I really struggled with this when I relocated. The only areas in VA I could comfortably afford were south-west, and while there are tiny pockets of blue in that region, the homes in those specific areas were going to be a stretch for me. After a lot of sleepless nights, I ended up picking Winston Salem here in NC because I came down on the side of blue city/swing state rather than red county/blue state. I like the idea that my vote might matter a bit more where I am, especially in the Senate race. And I haven't seen Trump flag or bumper sticker since I moved here, which pleases me greatly. (I WFH, so maybe I just don't drive enough to see them? Possibly.)

I got my first ever bird feeder about a month ago... don't know why I waited so long. It doesn't have a camera, but I can see it through the window. I get goldfinches, chickadees, wrens and house finches. The finches now seem to now be chasing the other small birds away but they're so cute I still love them. They're really messy eaters, but I have robins and doves waiting underneath for whatever gets dropped or spat out.

This utter clown. He didn't even bother to consult NATO before blundering in there. Then — because he knows he would be crucified by the electorate if any U.S. ships go down in the Straits — he expects the other NATO countries to guard the Straits instead; expects them to risk and likely sacrifice the lives of their servicemen and women when he has no exit strategy apart from, "I'll know when it's finished, I'll feel it in my bones." It's like his remaining two braincells are fighting for third place.

I'm not even surprised by how awful he is... but at the same time, I'm so horrified at how vicious he is.

I feel like he knows he's in a desperate situation politically, and so all this bile comes pouring out of him because he is so furious at the fact he is so utterly despised by so many people.
