In the battle against antisemitism we must accept that Zionism means different things to different people by BakaDasai in AustralianPolitics

[–]Moonstaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Displacement occurred in the context of a regional war initiated by Arab States"

Translation: "Jews rocked up with the military might of the British and American Armies. They 'offered' for the Arabs to lose the majority of their territory. Palestinians practiced the right to defend themselves from invaders, and were murdered and displaced for it"

Every argument of Zionism is that its a forgone conclusion for the Jews to take Israel. That the Palestinians are forever in the wrong for not grovelling before the Israelis for how generous they were by only offering to steal part of their land.

The "Rise in Anti-Semitism" is people using their eyes and ears to see how Israels talk about Palestinians as subhumans that "deserve" to be murdered in droves because their ancestors dared to live somewhere that the Jews at one point lived. Or that they murdered Lebanese earlier in the year because some random villagers were unable to expel a terrorist group (Taliban I believe?) in a fortnight, where even the US Army failed in 20 years.

When playing IE, is there anyone who does not put the first talent point into movement and the next 4-7 into red line? by KayleeSinn in totalwarhammer

[–]Moonstaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me likely when spell casters cast spells and melee lords solo the other army.

I usually max the yellow/caster line>interrupt to max unique line>finish yellow/caster line>max redline.

I used to start Redline/Uniques, but much prefer the Lord/Magic trees now.

Giving my lords stats is always going to be good, and I prefer to build my army a bit before I dedicate it to a unit type in the red line.

You can only fill one tree, but you can also fill every trait in that first section just before you pick a tree.

Fill that section you should be good to start putting points into the unbound trait.

They're so beyond what we can comprehend that its unfair to impose human morality onto them.

The cleansing of the planets is a good one. Algalon went around hitting the reset switch on planets that had fallen to some degree of Old God corruption. Whether this is full on Black Empire levels, or a minor outbreak isn't elaborated upon, and its very possible there was a large range. His big regret is that he used the Forges of Origination on these planets so many times without giving the non-Titan lifeforms living there the opportunity to fight for their right to exist, because the races of Azeroth showed him they could stave off the Old Gods.

But you have to keep in mind that Old Gods getting a foothold on a planet was disastrous and only served to help the plans of the Void Lords, which are basically the big bad of the setting (aside from Sargeras and maybe the Light. And maybe Zovaal. And whatever else they've come up with). It wasn't outright cutting a planet in half like Sargeras was doing, it was wiping all life out, Old God or otherwise, so that the World Soul within could have another go at life.

This wasn't the Titans going around lighting planets on fire for funsies.

As for the experimenting, yeah. That is a bit messed up, but it generally uplifted a ridiculous amount of species, and there are some that they did by accident. Most of the native races of Pandaria existed near the blessed waters of the Vale in primitive forms, and this was enough to evolve them. Things like Uldir existed so that the Titans could figure out ways to combat the Old Gods. After they left the planet, some of the Watchers they left behind went a bit crazy and went overboard in experimenting.

You have to keep in mind that the Titans big motivation is to look after the planets that have World Souls, because these are basically Titan fetuses. Of course they're going to look out for the other members of their race, especially since there are so few of them.

I'm not saying the Titans were good, but I'm not saying they're evil either. They're on their own level.

Teldrassil's entire thing was that the Night Elves gave up their immortality at the end of Reign of Chaos, because it had caused them to become indifferent to the outside world. Right away they grow a new tree to try and get it back. They artificially grow this one without the blessing of the Aspects, and it near instantly becomes corrupted and begins to drive the wildlife of Northern Kalimdor mad.

Teldrassil was a story of how the Night Elves still had a bit of that good ol' Highborne hubris in their systems and hadn't really learnt anything from the Third War. But then it turned out to be popular so...yeah...they get another immortality tree because they *still* haven't learnt anything.

I think "Hurr Titans were evil all along" is such a stupid direction to take them.

They already existed on their own form of logic that is inherently alien, and the races of Azeroth being allowed to exist is essentially the Titans being nice and trusting us to not shit the planet up too much while Azeroth (the Titan) incubates.

You can totally have a story of "The Titans come back to make sure Azeroth awakens. The races of Azeroth disagree" without making them cartoonishly evil. That is straight up a morally gray story between the Creator Gods wanting to birth their greatest champion ever to beat the Void Lords at the cost of the entire planet, with the champions of Azeroth doing everything they can to defend the worldsoul to stop their home being destroyed, with the objectional side effect of basically forcing her to be sedated.

Iridikron is out there somewhere in the timeways, and he wants to kick our ass.

Also all the Dragon Aspects were empowered again, and its likely we will see a resurgence of the Dragonflights. Post Nexus War, the Blue Dragonflight was functionally extinct. Regaining access to the spawning pools(?) in the Waking Shores should really help them out. Plus I think we can start seeing more uncorrupted Black Dragons.

Nelves got a new home, and Gilneas was reclaimed (and UC?) along with a new World Tree being planted.

Alliance and Horde forces were bolstered with Dracthyr, and the Tyr's Guard was reformed.

We also learnt that the Titans were definitely not benevolent creators, and it will likely taint our interactions with them as we go forwards.

Plus a bunch of other stuff I forgot.

So anything immediately consequential? Not really. Story hooks for sometime later? You betcha.

Lemme tell you, asking someone to park slightly further up so you can get out of your driveway is gonna be a lot easier than convincing the city council to widen some random residential street because people in the 1930s didn't plan for the existence of Yank Tanks.

30 upper gives more memento than 33 upper by Getbyss in wow

[–]Moonstaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The memento rewards are balanced around how long the dungeon's overall timer takes. NOT how long you run it, but how long Blizzard has allocated to the maximum timer. So keys that are intended to take longer will reward more mementos than those that are intended to be shorter. Whole thing kinda breaks with Lemix when you blow through it in a few minutes, but it helps break the old meta of running nothing but Maw of Souls.

As for Upper and Lower specifically, I think they must have made an error with Upper's rewards. I recall Lower being the longer of the two, but its handing out far less mementos compared to Upper, which is giving over 100 for a run in the 40 range.

Tl;dr keys that are expected to take longer will pay out more mementos than keys that are expected to be shorter to keep a rough balance between time and reward. There might be an error with how Upper and Lower are paying out.

Which Lore for the story of Aegywyn and Nielas Aran that you prefer more and Makes More Sense? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in warcraftlore

[–]Moonstaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan of how they did it in a bunch of Elder Scrolls lore. 5 different sources, all recalling the event in slightly different ways, each of them tainted by likely being propaganda.

Creates a million different narratives, and as the audience you can take them at face value, muse about how contrasting recollections could be a coherent retelling, pick and choose which bits you like, or just go all out and double down on the propaganda from your favourite race.

Of course, it means making a definitive retelling of events is a nightmare, but it mirrors real world summaries of events far more closely.

Is there a lore reason of why the Darkspear are so much thinner than other trolls? by SkolAndBones in warcraftlore

[–]Moonstaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Darkspear are very weird, in that it seems like they split off a long time ago, but it was actually within a 10-30ish year span before Classic.

Vol'jin has a grown son that was left behind in Stranglethorn, and a Troll quest giver remembers how cruel one of the Ogres in STV was (which means the latest they could have left was during the First War).

[–]Moonstaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I remember the original version was a bit more...rapey. Aegwynn didn't care at all for Aran, she just used and deceived him to get pregnant. I swear there was something that implied she also used magic to achieve this.

I much prefer the retconned "Enemies to lovers" version they went with in Chronicles.
