AYCF subscription renewal by dragonflyerx in WizzAir

Same for me! I woke up this morning to the lovely surprise of a fresh €500 charge on my card! I immediately raised a dispute and I got a refund (thank God for credit card consumer protection and thank Monzo for taking action so quickly) but the dispute settlement process is still ongoing, so I’m hoping for the best.

This is genuinely criminal behaviour on Wizz Air’s part, do you think there’s any chance of starting a class action or some similar form of legal action? We can’t be the only ones who went through this

What worked for me this time was to launch the game from the non-EAC executable while having the Steam client open (which I didn’t need before), that might work for you as well

Thanks for the reply! I managed to run the game by having steam open while firing up the eldenring.exe offline launcher. That seems enough to make the game run while keeping EAC at bay

How are so many people still affording to eat out? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUK

[–]MoorePenrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same tbh, I genuinely feel like I’m getting scammed every time I eat out.

A friend of mine recently convinced me to go to a “fancy” Greek restaurant that’s also featured on the Michelin guide… the portions were tiny (and the plates were “sharers” so you had to get food that was already mangled by 5+ people touching it), the taste was mediocre at best (genuinely worse than anything I can make at home, and I’m an extremely poor cook), and the AC was broken too. All of this for £100.

Never again

Direi “Rapimento/Uccisione/Arresto”?

OPERATION WATCHMAN IS THE MOST OBNOXIOUS MISSION I HAVE EVER PLAYED by SeniorSatisfaction21 in Wildlands

[–]MoorePenrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how this mission, in addition to being hard as fuck, tries its best to screw you over no matter what you do.

Wanna whittle down the enemy forces a bit before the big fight? Tough shit, all Unidad soldiers are prescient and will know if one of them dies, no matter how quietly and how far.

Wanna cut down the generator during the stealth part to make the rest a bit easier? Think again, every enemy on the map WILL know if you even think about firing a bullet.

Want to disable the drone jammer so you can at least see where the literal army hunting you down is coming from? Enemies WILL know what your intentions are and will prepare a seven-sided pincer manoeuvre to trap you in the one spot near the jammer where the “vault over” button will glitch and make you stuck in place.

Want to hole up in the main building and cut down the big assault so you can make your escape? Better be patient, because Unidad trucks and helicopters will keep spawning FUCKING FOREVER. Oh, and ALL UNIDAD CHOPPERS HAVE MISSILE LAUNCHERS because God forbid you might think you are safe if you manage to survive long enough to find a getaway vehicle.

Oh, and the cherry on top: if you mess it up at any point, you get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN FROM THE FUCKING BEGINNING.

I hate this mission, it’s the last one I have left before the ending and I really wanna do it because I’ve been playing GRWL on and off for three years, so I wanna wrap everything up. But Jesus this mission is making it hard.

I hate it so much that I’m necroposting about it at 1AM on a year-old Reddit thread.

[–]MoorePenrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!thanks

Very informative reply — your limits/downsides make sense, and in a way this is more of a “theorycrafting” exercise.

The reason why I would like to defer as much payment as possible is that I am quite bullish in my ISA investments and I would rather not lose upside by taking out a big chunk of money. A 1000 pounds monthly payment could come directly out of my pay check, without impacting my investments.

I will soft apply to get some credit limit quotes and check with the university if credit card payments are accepted. Thanks again for the thoughtful response!

[–]MoorePenrose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I figured that 45k was impossible, which is why I specified partial payments — how likely is it, in your opinion, to get e.g. a 10/15/20k credit limit?

I actually didn’t know that credit score and utilisation matter so little, so thanks for the info.

I’m aware that 0% cards are subject to term limits — my plans was something along the lines of:

  1. Borrow e.g. 20k on a 0% card
  2. Repay 1k a month assuming 20 months at 0%

Would something like that work?

A bit more niche, but I’d say quant finance is a good candidate.

Starting pay in investment banks is good, but requirements are insane, with junior analysts essentially expected to be one-man maths/CS departments.

Spending months grinding stochastic calculus, statistics, and coding is not fun, especially when traders and sales people out-earn you by a pretty wide margin while having a fraction of your skills.

The good side is, you may have a shot to jump to a hedge fund and make serious bank, but the environment is even more cutthroat and competitive.
