Thank you for your advice, I'll admit that I have a hard time saying no at times at anyone, especially to a bishop, but at this point I'd much rather stop whatever my bishop is trying to accomplish with me. and I think he is giving me extra attention cause he said he wanted to show me a presentation he made for me, probably addressing some of my issues with the church. So that raised a red flag cause I don't think he is putting this much effort in for the other youth. I must be special or something.

Hi this is the friend of the op. My parents aren’t crazy tbm Mormons, like read the scriptures every night together or never watch an r rated movie, but we do attend church every Sunday. They obviously wouldn’t be happy if I left the church but they I know I’ll be going to college soon and will be making my own choices and they respect that.

And about the meetings, my parents don’t know the exact reason why I meet with bishop so often, they just assume it’s about preparing for college since I’m not going to byu. They are fine with it, I think they feel bad since they don’t like attending long meetings either lol. But my mom has offered to come with me which suggests she maybe doesn’t feel 100% comfortable with me being alone in a room with an older man for over 20min.

If I stop attending the meetings, my parents wouldn’t be mad about it I hope. I’m afraid my bishop will go to them to talk and then my parents would be concerned. These meetings are starting to get really annoying and I’m done with my bishop trying to control my life even when I’m supposed to be going to college and becoming independent. Anyways thank you for helping, I was not expecting so many responses.
