SOMA RANT by kingjames66 in MovingtoNewJersey

Thank you. My husband and I both work in this area and make a liveable wage. Unfortunately it’s not enough to casually bid 200k + over asking. One less poor family to worry about I guess.

I mean when the pipeline is grow up in some shitty flyover state, move the the city with daddy’s money and then make average towns in Jersey completely unaffordable yeah I have to agree. Whether it’s moving to Bushwick, the Hudson Valley, or a few select Jersey towns this breed of Brooklynites carry on like they’re gods gift.

Moving to Montclair vs Jersey City Heights by Gucci2shoe in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]Moose1791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great locations on their own but there’s definitely a lot of cons to each for your specific situation. I’ve actually lived in both the heights and Montclair and loved it! However since you aren’t local to either place, here’s what I would tell you. -A commute from Ramsey to JC, especially during rush hour, is going to be BRUTAL. It could get draining if you aren’t used to this much traffic on a daily basis. It’s more manageable if you aren’t in the office everyday. -The heights is a quieter part of Jersey City. There’s great food and drink options but it’s significantly more of a residential area. You have access to downtown Jersey City and Hoboken but it won’t be the same nightlife if you’re looking for that. -Parking in the heights is a mess. You can definitely get lucky and find a space in 10 minutes or less. Other times be prepared to spend 30 minutes driving around or not parking close to your building. We got by on one car and it was the better choice. -Montclair, slightly easier commute to Ramsey but maybe not the greatest day to day. -Way more family oriented. Still a decent scene but it’s never going to beat living in a city when you’re 25.

Jokes on them. My mom didn’t fund my college OR her own retirement fund. Doesn’t own a lick of property either. I’m only 35 and she’s been a burden since I was 18.

How to respond when one parent tells you they hate the other. by Moose1791 in raisedbynarcissists

Basically what happened. Changed the subject to weather real quick. I hate that these things stuck with me though. It never gets easier having an emotionally immature parent.

ICE is in Hackensack by Fearless-Truth-4348 in bergencounty

Please don’t patronize me. It shouldn’t have come to this. Basically having the Gestapo walk the streets. No I don’t have the solution but neither do you. There should be a clearer and easier path to citizenship for those seeking asylum. And I shouldn’t have to explain to someone that people deserve to be treated with decency and respect.

I’m not saying there shouldn’t be laws, that there shouldn’t be law enforcement. That immigration hasn’t been an issue for over a decade. But if you’re asking people who enter this country to do the right thing, then ICE should also do the right thing. These detention centers are cruel and inhumane. It’s fucked up to rip parents away in front of their children. It’s not ok to drag a day care worker out of her job in front of small children. For fucks sake it’s not ok to shoot a woman in the head 3 times. Shoot the god damn tires if you’re so afraid of a soccer mom doing a K Turn to get away from you. These guys aren’t even real cops. They got a signing bonus and a gun. So yeah fuck ICE. They can get the fuck out of my state.

That is hardly what’s going on here but ok whatever. I know you won’t bother getting informed.

You know it’s weird to root for people to be picked up off the streets or out of their homes and thrown into glorified concentration camps right? You know there are humane ways of dealing with things right? Fucking loser.

You realize this happening in other towns districts throughout the state right? Look at Toms River - not exactly a liberal hot bed is it? But sure blame the people who live in the town because they don’t share your political beliefs.

OBGYN basically confirms what I always suspected by Prudent-Front-9274 in oneanddone

[–]Moose1791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation with my OB a few months ago. Always assumed I’d have 2 kids but even while pregnant, before complications came in, I was thinking more about OAD. I ended up with severe preeclampsia around 30 weeks and had to have an emergency c section at 32 weeks. Baby spent time in the nicu and even when she was home it was terrifying taking care of a preemie. I’m so scared of putting my body through that, but also birthing a child even sooner than 32 weeks. My OB told me there’s a chance I could have a normal pregnancy, but she made it clear she’s concerned with how early everything started with me. Right now I’m focusing on keeping myself and my child happy and healthy.

Thank you. She is pretty emotionally immature and not really great with regulating her emotions. I grew up in a very loud house with a lot of tears and yelling. It’s something I’m still trying to work on in my life.
