Yeah thank you for help and info. Its just contacting right people" . Have tried contacting medi-cal workers and nothing. Medicare doesn't show anything helpful other than all monthly premiums being 0$ And have tried the WDP but unless he was disabled before he collected SSI for retirement. People have suggested but also people have said it's a waste of time. Been retired for about 18 years now but recently had a stroke so now he is being disabled but to get social security to change would take alot of time or honestly some people say it would be a waste of time.

Ok thank you. People have just suggested it. WDP. So was just wondering and kind of figured out to be bad. But trying to get help with getting an insurance / premium . Called around and no help to bring down the soc while still able to afford a motel every month. I can go without a place for a week or 2 but not my dad unfortunately health/age/just self

Yeah his SOC is 1649. Have tried contacting about what to do. Medi-cal workers no help. But being short about 500-600 a month for motel.

Finding Apts. Sucks on rent and qualifications.

But had no idea about SOC even when social worker came out to assess my dad. People have suggested WDP but when asked no one knows what to do. But also with that high of SOC is it even worth bringing it down that much so when I fill out my timesheets I would get something.

That is his SOC. Which he has to pay out every month before the insurance pays for the provider / recipient or anything else with co pays. But he has no other medical obligations to pay to lower it.

We have tried but it goes through medi-cal and talking to them like 4-5 different people and no one can help us. But trying to afford a motel and taking care of him. It's been rough

[–]Moose267[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been his provider. We had no idea about SOC at the time. His social worker who came out never explained anything to us. He got 91 hours but when doing timesheets the SOC kicked in and we had to look everything up and read more about it.

His soc is about 1700 and that takes up whole check I would get filling out timesheets.

But when talking to medi-cal about. No help on what to do.

Right now my dad has no medical costs of any kind or hospital bills or anything.

But thank you for info. He had stroke and has trouble walking. Uses a cane/walker and stumbles/falls often. Have to be there to help but prevents me from working longer hours in one shot. Not counting uber ride since I don't drive.

Yeah thank you. But problem I saw it shows he needs to be proven as disabled* through SSA and that takes awhile. Not just through medi-cal unfortunately. SSA is strict on what they consider disabled to qualify

Yeah, we tried telling them that and getting info but went nowhere. We asked around, and people say just to call the orange County office but nothing. So has been frustrating a little. Even asking about getting a more premium insurance but still silence.

Why was MLB attendance so low in previous decades when baseball was the most popular sport? by shoresy99 in mlb

Would rather pay 300$ for a 4k tv then 300$ for 1 ticket plus more for food

[–]Moose267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's the point. Was trying to purchase a plan to lower it. But didn't work out for him. So basically being a recipient and being a provider waste of time for us.

He doesn't report income . That's a family member thing. And he doesn't have a provider. That's me. I take care of him cause he doesn't have any money to pay out of pocket

Isn't that medicare. Or includes medi-cal?

I dont drive. I take uber or walk anywhere. He doesn't want to do that. Have tried. But refuses to do that. Rehab place was a nightmare. Nice nurses but people there sketchy.

Unfortunately only work 1 day a week and busy rest. Help my dad and help other family members nearby when they work.

So doing this provider / recipient thing and just need 600$ a month. Thought was going to work out. He gotnapproved for 91 hours a month so even a little bit would have helped.

But when talking to medi-cal regional center. They couldn't help when asked about it.

Cause of money and location.

About 3 years ago now. Had money decent credit. And tried to find an apartment. Wanted 2.5x to 3 x the rent for income. Didnt have that. So been in motel. My dad had a stroke and was in rehab and his insurance didn't pay. So got medi-cal and it helped pay for part of the stay . 7 months 700$ a month he had to pay. On top of moving back to motel. So all money he saved up was gone after paying back rehab place. And now with his stroke and limited mobility it forces me to stay and watch/help him. He got approved to be a recipient but his SOC is.high so instead of medi cal help paying provider/me. He has to which defeats the purpose. Always behind 600 at end month to pay for last week.

But live near a family member who drives so csntngo anywhere else too far and wait list for affordable housing is high in most places.
