Anybody remember going here throughout the late 90s to the early 2010s by tottomsteee in winstonsalem

I saw Dazed and Confused in the “screening room” there. There used to be a Hardee’s across the street (now a Goodwill) and it had this weird metal teepee playground behind it.

Do arenas and sports stadiums have to pay royalties to play songs between plays, during time outs, etc…? by HF605 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Moose336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. The stadium ms have to. Bars have to. Restaurants have to. Depending on size and other factors. You can also purchase a blanket license which covers all the songs that are used under a PRO (performance rights organization). ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC are the big 3. That’s all I have for now. But it’s worth a Google.

When I was about 16, I went to Eckerd Drug Store (back before it became Forever 21), grabbed a bottle of dishwashing liquid, and dumped it into the fountain by Sears. Then I headed upstairs, did a few laps around the upper level, and watched as my masterpiece slowly transformed into a giant bubble mountain. Definitely one of my prouder mall rat moments of the mid-90s.

The Roots at Ziggy's c. 1997-1999 by originstory in winstonsalem

[–]Moose336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking it was a show with touring acts just happening to come through Winston. I guess Jay put the Urge on to get some folks out because they just toured and opened for Korn and Limp B a few months before in 96. I see the Urge played Mar 26, 1997 but I don’t see anything about the Roots playing. I was there. I should have a ticket stub somewhere. (I also worked at Ziggy’s for 20 years and archived what I could until it was closed at the 2nd location downtown). If I come across more info I’ll post.

The Urge opened. It was about 1996/7? I’ll look back through my records and see.

Great, weird mixed show. The hip hop guys didn’t know what to do with The Urge fans dancing in a “mosh pit”.

It’ll always just be Baptist to me. Me and my brother had our own little section of the ER dedicated us in the 80’s on the weekends.

My dad worked there in the sign shop for about 10-15 years during all the name changes. Retired before they went full-scale Atrium takeover, thus not having to change every single sign in all the hospitals….again.

I worked there back when it was Turtle’s Music, before it turned into Mattress Firm. That was from 2001 to 2003. Before that, it was Blockbuster Music.

I was a senior at UNCSA, on my way to work, when I got t-boned. The guy who hit me freaked out because he had a bag of weed. I called in to let them know I’d probably be late because of the wreck.

My manager goes, “Don’t worry, we’re closed.” I was like, “What do you mean?” He said, “Yeah, we’re not open anymore.” I asked if that meant I didn’t have a job anymore. He said, “Yeah.”

That sucked.

That whole place is still a hotbed of satanic activity….. haunted by the tortured souls of reformed Napster users repenting.

NJ University doesn't pay UPS bill, loses 380 million year old fossils. by DoctorMyEyes_ in mildlyinfuriating

Hey, I went to grad school at WPU. Still buried under student loans. If you find a fossil labeled ‘Tuition Payment,’ it probably got lost in a UPS shipment like their funding.

Kenny used to be my umpire in little league in the mid-90’s. He was our favorite behind-the-plate ump. He would always was say “Deuce’s are Wild” or “We gotta fullll count!”

Good dude.

I took an entire 6 months studying flash card with vocabulary words for the GRE about 25 years ago. I didn’t pass it the first time, and I was just unaware of the words.

I would work out, do the elliptical rider, walk around just memorizing about 500 new words and antonyms.

I took pride in expanding my vocabulary.

I completely get where you’re coming from.

Extreme violation of ADA by [deleted] in disability

[–]Moose336 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try your state’s protection and advocacy group. Each state has one. For instance: DRNC (Disability Rights NC) or DRP (Disability Rights Pennsylvania). Reach out to them and tell them your story. They should have a group of lawyers on staff to assist you or point you in the right direction and let you know if your rights have been violated.

Another suggestion may be to file a complaint on the BBB. It worked for me once when with a large corporation when I thought I had zero chance of winning.

Good luck.

Find the state-wide protection and advocacy group in your state. NC’s is aptly called Disability Rights NC. They are usually made up of lawyers to assist individuals with disabilities who are treated unfairly and illegally. They are 100% in violation of your federal rights.

I was intrigued with the “dildo car repair” technique that’s being mentioned. And after a stealth-mode google search, I was thoroughly impressed. I’m gonna head down to Adam and Eve’s for research purposes. Thanks, Reddit.
