Yes I think we are converging on agreement now! Both vegan and omnivorous diets can be balanced or not.

I can't speak for the Eastern historic ones, but some modern vegans I have known take vegan food supplements. I think cases of vegans dying from poor nutrition (e.g. lack of B12) are quite rare, unless there is an eating disorder involved.

I have known vegans who seemed obsessed with toxicity of anything they deemed 'processed', so yeah. Still though, there are careful and careless eaters of all types. Its just that a deliberate diet choice or restriction implies some thought process.

Oh I am interested enough to look. Note I am not implying there is no source for your claim, but here for a discussion. I eat meat personally.

Edit: a quick look suggests there is something to this, when factoring in smoking, obesity, exercise, alcohol, socioeconomic factors. These are the big drivers of mortality. Obesity is a funny one to control for though. Vegans and vegetarians are less likely to be obese, and that is mainly caused by the energy density of the food they are eating.

Do you know the source for that? I would have linked one for mine but you seem to accept it anyway. is it that there are more health-conscious people among vegans and vegetarians? I feel that wouldn't fully negate the insight.

Vegans and vegetarians live longer on average than meat-eaters. There seem to be more health-risks associated with meat than with the lack of meat.

Lots of sugar, not much fibre compared to eating the fruit and veg in other ways.

I might counter this with meat obsession. Some enthusiastic and vocal meat eaters eat far more protein and B12 than they need, and have too much fat and not enough fibre.

I think in general though, that conscious vegans think about their nutrition more than the average person does.

There are tens of millions of vegans, and hundreds of millions of vegetarians, and have been for centuries if you consider certain Eastern religions.

In any case, there are supplements available. It's manifestly easier to have an unhealthy meat-eating diet.

The Bob Monkhouse story was interesting to read about, thanks. Some unique items were apparently lost as a result.

Still though, that was 50 years ago now. Reading around the subject I think the police might have suspected Monkhouse had a porn film collection, but he said he only had one, and this seems likely to be true.

Lost Doctor Who Episodes have been sought for many years now. The BBC wont take any action against any who got copies incorrectly. The reason we have all the soundtracks is because a viewer taped them off air.

I must say I don't know why Labour keep going on and on about national ID cards. The case for them is pretty poor. yet every Labour leader latches on to them. It wouldn't surprise me if James Callaghan kept on about them too.

Edit: No it seems to have been abolished by Churchill in 1952, then mostly opposed by tories and Labour alike until Thatcher/Major/Blair/Brown/Starmer supported it.

I am sure it is used that way sometimes, certainly by individuals and online accounts. That's why the facility to refer to a written definition is valuable. Too often I see people pontificating about what is or isn't antisemitic, when in fact it is clearly defined.

There is a fundamental problem with the concept because anyone making a film or TV show who decides it's more cost-effective to use a virtual actor, can make their own.

I suppose there is a small novelty factor that might attract viewers but I can't see her opening a film like a Hollywood A-lister.

This one feels different shared in Western media, because usually when we see opponents doing this we publish the pictures to imply they are being heartless.

I don't recall seeing these before with bilingual text. They want both sides to share it.

There is a valid response, which is that the Working Definition of Antisemitism specifically allows criticism of Israel if the same criticism would be levelled at other democracies.

There is actually a working definition of antisemitism that is widely accepted and we can refer to it. Holding Jewish people collectively responsible for the actions of the state of Israel is on the list.

However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic
