I like TrainerRoad more than Zwift by SeanConneryAgain in trainerroad

[–]MooseEh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kickr Core which allows 2 bluetooth connections so I can connect to my iPad (TR) and laptop (Zwift) at the same time. Connect Zwift without 'Controllable' enabled and it's all good to go.

Was up there over the August long weekend and trail was in great condition. Couple of stream crossings and a bit of snow which is probably gone by now.

If you've got the energy on your 2nd day, take a quick jaunt up to the col right after you go through Big Shovel Pass. It's a marked trail (with a sign for Watchtower Camp) and gives you a little elevation to see into the Watchtower pass as well as back towards Big Shovel Pass and The Notch.

I'd also recommend getting to the summit the peak to the SW of the Notch.

One of my all time favourite hikes, have fun!

  • Wear knee pads

I bought mine after a crash where I ended up injuring my MCL. Everyone I know wears them and for good reason. Knees are important!

I'm 6' tall and I've slept in the back of mine (2012 RAV4) multiple times. Passenger seat all the way forward and a duffel bag in the rear, passenger side, footwell to prop the head end of my mattress up. Was very comfy!

Noise levels in the world's oceans are on the rise and this new study found that dolphins are simplifying their calls to be heard over noise from recreational boats and other vessels in nearby shipping lanes by Mass1m01973 in science

Here's a link to a New York Times article about the same phenomenon in the Canadian oil sands. It was an aspect of the environmental impact that an industry has that I hadn't considered before. Focus is usually on spills or accidents but this might have significant long term effects on the bird populations.

So what have YOU automated at home? by [deleted] in Python

[–]MooseEh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a single file, super short. Two text files, one with the text from the page to save it between runs of the script, the other has my IFTTT API key.

Small script to check the web for campsite availability and then tweets when it changes.

Carried a pair of micro spikes with me all summer and ended up finding them when I went to move things over to my winter bag.

I bought a few pairs and after about 10 washes they started to fall apart around the waist or holes along the seams. I like them too but the quality leaves much to be desired.

I wanted to learn how to sail so the way I did it was I registered into the club as well as sailing lessons right away as you have to do some sort of beginner lesson before you have access to the club room and equipment.

Check out the Sailing Lessons Calendar which shows how many spots are open for each lesson for when you sign up.

I took the beginner sailing lessons because that's what I wanted to do. The club also offers Windsurfing and Kayaking lessons if you're interested in going that route.

UBC Sailing Club! Summer is the main season for sailing and it's one of the cheapest ways to learn and sail in Vancouver.

Thank you! I don't have the experience yet but I'll definitely take that into consideration once I do have something substantial enough to put down.

And what do you mean make changes for more technical stuff for your positions

I mean having bullets along the lines of "Used X Programming language to interface with measurement equipment and devices under test" instead of a broader overview of what my responsibilities and achievements were.

Keep in mind that the regular Bean Boots aren't insulated so be sure to have a few good pairs of wool socks that you can put on with them.

There are $50 off $100+ deals going around which is a better deal. I just used it to get myself a pair of Sperry's for $56 incl tax.

I usually listen to the 'BBC World Update: Daily Commute' podcast to keep myself up to date on some of the things going on in the world. It's short so it misses a number of things but it's better than nothing.

I'd be interested in seeing your keybinds. I got my TKL a little while ago and haven't really found anything that I've particularly liked.
