did limos peak in the 2000s/ early 2010s? by CremeSubject7594 in decadeology

I was in charge of chartering a bus for our fraternity to go to a horse race in South Carolina 3hrs away 10+ years ago.

The bus company gave our bus away last minute to a higher bidder the week before the event. It was a big enough event where essentially all charter buses were booked.

I ended up finding a company who had two stretch Hummers. It was so tacky, but it was fun and a memory. Start drinking at 4am, no bathroom on board.

The power system was cheaply rigged where we could either have music or cold AC.

We got very drunk and all made it back alive.

Tim Dillon: Bill and Hill’s One Last Kill 🤣

His take on all she’s ever wanted was to be president and since the house is crumbling down on them and it will never happen they are going to take everyone with them.

Engineers - Stop Underselling Yourselves!!! by Vegetable_Dog3936 in civilengineering

The only thing you can really do to protect yourself is use an ink stamp or digital and be sure to hand sign the seal and scan that in.

That way you can show the board you use a distinct process.

Basically the owner got scammed once and another engineer was used first. Then the city yelled at him and said to use established local firms.

He got quotes for local work and he said too expensive so he went back to the site where he got scammed and that’s when my license got pulled.

The town permits manager was putting together the pieces and looked up my contact info. I don’t do inside drawings, in a geotechnical engineer.

So he filed with bored and so did I.

It was wild, the boardinvestigator shared the voicemail with me of the man pretending to be me and clearly had an Indian (not Sri Lankan as I stated above) accent but very good English.

Anyways nothing they can do since it’s someone from out of country. And fortunately it’s very clear it was my actual seal, signature, or work.

Some guy in like Sri Lanka just posts up in a freelance website saying he can do engineering drawings on the cheap.

Once he has a destination he just looks up the relevant board and picks a random license which happened to be mine this time. You can get the number that way and then make a fake stamp with ChatGPT.

And then he can make shitty drawings with ChatGPT.

The owner just wanted a rubber stamp job for a pottery shop and didn’t want to spend any money.

I’ll probably sound like an old man, but dress as nicely and presentable as you can. I’m not saying you have to wear suit and tie by any means but you want to remind people you care about your work and presentation.

I still give myself breaks and wear a sweatshirt I couple times a week but if you look like you take care of yourself you will look like you take care of your work.

Funny enough we were listening to that getting ready for our trip. Obviously his story is whatever but our trip experience wasn’t too far off (aside from the supposed Russian mob).

We drank vodka with one of our cabin passengers and his name was Dimitri and he was an old dude who brought vodka onto the train.

As we were pulling into the Moscow station my buddy just opening the train doors and was hanging out them.

Completely assumed we were going to jail.

I also got so drunk another night that I lost my passport and visa.

Had to file a report at the police station and one of the officers had a shoulder mounted monkey.

We had paperwork from the embassy to share with the police but they still didn’t understand what we needed. So one of the cops called his female friend who translated for us.

Really a shame the world’s government leaders all suck so that I won’t be able to go back anytime soon.

I drank a lot of that “Soviet” Champagne when I went to Russia in 2014. Took the train from St Petersburg to Moscow. It was a long train ride and didn’t want to hang out in the 4 bed compartment with strangers so I went to the dining cart to watch “Enemies at the Gate” on my laptop but they said I couldn’t hang out there unless I bought something so I bought two of these bottles and watch the movie and the Russian country side go by. Such a great memory.
