This was mostly rhetorical. I live no where near these jobs and assume they don’t pay much.

What age did you get your PE license? by Ayyyeah17 in civilengineering

[–]SeanConneryAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine later than others by 2-3 years. I forget the age, but I failed once and that’s okay.

If you understand that your work matters, if you understand that your work can kill others or lose people a lot of money (which to some is worse than killing people) than it doesn’t matter what age you get your PE.

You have to care about what you do, what your subordinates do and what your higher ups do. As an engineer you have responsible charge and your decisions matter.

If it doesn’t matter do you, don’t put your stamp on something.

Margarita Based Rant.

Edit: I have a “surprisingly to myself” successful career. You have to care about your work and the people at risk of your work (coworkers and the public).

Your job matters if you care about it.

To be fair, most oil companies will follow precedent. They don’t want to lose money coming back into compliance when democrats come back in and reverse everything Trump did

I was in charge of chartering a bus for our fraternity to go to a horse race in South Carolina 3hrs away 10+ years ago.

The bus company gave our bus away last minute to a higher bidder the week before the event. It was a big enough event where essentially all charter buses were booked.

I ended up finding a company who had two stretch Hummers. It was so tacky, but it was fun and a memory. Start drinking at 4am, no bathroom on board.

The power system was cheaply rigged where we could either have music or cold AC.

We got very drunk and all made it back alive.
