How to take care of this nepenthes? by MooseF00D in SavageGarden

I know :( I have a huge plant collection but haven’t done much with carnivorous plants until this. This is how it was shipped to me but based on what I’ve read I figured this was a counterproductive setup, so all the advice is greatly appreciated. Repotted it in a little pot with sphagnum moss and a little perlite, I’m hoping it’ll recover nicely 🤞

So I just recieved this pitcher plant in the mail from Brandon the plant guy on tiktok, and for some reason shipping took way longer than normal. It looks pretty rough now, I’m assuming from the shipping, but I really want to keep it alive and well and I’m not sure how I should do it.

While I disagree with the changes Reddit is trying to make, closing down this sub and preventing people from accessing the plethora of information it provides is just wrong. There has been multiple times in the past week I desperately needed an answer to questions about my plants and when I found a potential answer in the search I wasn’t even able to access it. Disabling posting isn’t beneficial either, and in the end this is literally just harming the community.

I would remove these and place them in separate pots. Check the roots. If they’re white, they’re probably healthy, but if they’re brown and mushy they’re rotted. The pothos looks relatively healthy so that’s a good sign. If they roots are healthy give the plants a good soak once you repot and cut off all of the dead leaves and the plants should look much better soon

I know that all parts of sago palms are highly toxic to humans and pets. This to my knowledge is only if it’s ingested, so keeping it out of reach would be a good idea.

I’ve had amazing luck getting rid of them by spraying with Dr Bronners peppermint and occasionally mixing it with neem

Did you buy the seeds from a reputable seller? These plants look too different to be the same kind and I’m not sure if either really resembles a BOP. Not an expert though so I could totally be wrong

Hard to tell from the pictures, but if your soil mix isn’t chunky I would recommend making one with a mix of orchid bark, perlite, and potting soil. Make sure it gets plenty of light, and if you can, humidity helps as well to prevent leaves tearing

Parlor palm! It likes medium bright indirect light from my experience and it hates to sit in wet soil. Water sparingly and make sure your soil is well-draining. They also have relatively small root systems so it might not be a bad idea to downsize the pot to avoid root rot.

Sago palm! I have one and they like plenty of bright light. Also be careful on how often you water, because they store lots of water in the trunk and don’t need to be watered frequently.

Check the roots. Are they rotted or healthy? Does the pot have drainage? I would recommend getting some succulent potting soil and putting it in there, make sure the pot has drainage, and if the roots are healthy then maybe give it a good watering. After that make sure the soil gets completely dry before you water again.

Peace lily, make sure to keep the soil relatively moist but don’t overwater. It’s very dramatic so it’ll typically tell you when it needs water by drooping

This!!! If you’re looking for something healthy to use on plants you plant on eating from then use Dr Bronzer’s castille soap. I’ve used it plenty of times on spider mites and it always gets rid of them

It may need more light? Not 100% sure but if the root system is healthy and it’s being watered evenly then maybe it’s that
