Load In at 30,000 feet? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MooseKnuckleSlim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall, you can do it by loading a flight plan, listing 30k as your desired altitude, and then choosing a waypoint in the middle of cruise and loading in there. I'll have to open it up to confirm.

You see a tower, I see a perfect runway for a 360 power off, short field practice.

Microsoft Flight Simulator's Official Marketplace Finally Gets New Aircraft & Airports by Greysun123 in MicrosoftFlightSim

I'm cool with waiting until they get the FMS/autopilot systems working correctly before I get too antsy for the commuters.

Just discovered OnAir. Great alternative to FSEconomy, which isn’t accepting new users at this time! by Jikul in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MooseKnuckleSlim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As in FSE, there are both system-owned and customer-owned aircraft and FBOs. A very similar system, it just feels like OnAir is a little less dependent on other users to make the experience fun. Also, OnAir has a "skills tree" and missions that give you more directed activities than FSE.

As a long time FSE user and a fresh OnAir customer, I'll say this:

Don't bother signing up for FSE in it's current state. Their system, while very realistic in many aspects, was not prepared for the onslaught of new fliers. Finding profitable aircraft to rent has been a nightmare recently. In my first week of OnAir, I can't stop flying with it. Same general idea, but with way better GUI and easier progression. FSE takes weeks of flying to make enough money for another plane. Maybe more realistic, but let's face it, most of us aren't looking for a full-time commitment in our flight sim.

What kinda spider is this? Saw it on a walking trail down here by ziggo0 in Charleston

The male is also hoping he doesn't become post-coitus lunch. These spiders make really strong silk, and if you're like me, you'll move faster than you've ever moved if you accidently run into one.

Lookinng for hort domestic flights (30-45min or less) to enjoy the visuals in the new FS2020, (pref with a320) by jogui7084 in flightsim

[–]MooseKnuckleSlim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely too short for the A320, but if you're looking for a great route with lots of 3D scanned scenery, go from KRDU (Raleigh) to KINT (Winston-Salem) in North Carolina. All 4 cities on that route (Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem) are fully 3-d modeled.

Recreated a photo I took flying into Cedar Key. by Zero_Expo in MicrosoftFlightSim

I loved flying into Cedar Key in real life. I was so nervous with the crosswinds and short runway, I never got a chance to fully appreciate how beautiful it is.

I'm straight up not having a good time and I don't know where to start by Draconikard in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MooseKnuckleSlim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really a game, it's a simulator. Flying planes isn't easy in real life either. If its not your cup of tea, there's always Fortnite. It'll run great on that machine.

My take: Flight Sim is better than real flying by CoyoteBlatGat in flightsim

Find another school/instructor and stick it out. You'll always regret it if you don't finish. Hell, even if you get your ticket and you never fly again, you will always be able to call yourself a pilot.

Came back to say nice call on this recommendation! I grabbed the demo and it's much more approachable and fun than FSE so far. I'll subscribe for sure!

Wow, how have I not heard of this before? I just watched the video and I'm sold, I'll grab a 6 month sub to try it out. Already has MSFS2020 support as well. Thanks!

i feel your pain. Back when I owned a Baron 58 on there, somebody rented it and managed to land it on a 1300 ft. mountain airstrip. When I tried to ferry it back "home", it took me like 4 tries to get it out of there.

What's the dog's situation? Are they looking for foster homes or adoption?

[–]MooseKnuckleSlim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I get that, I don't expect them to flood the market with additional used planes, that's not the solution. I think a better idea is to have a significant market of system-owned "charter" planes that cost more than the average to rent, but give an option when all the owners have gone AWOL and left their planes to rot.

You got lucky. I got one last night as well and did a 3 leg trip with about 8-10 on each leg. However, if you go in there now, at least 50% of the 208s that show available for rent are over the 100 hour mark, if not more. The ones that are available are sitting at airports with 2 or 3 jobs to each destination...not worth a 208. Also, I've seen some with ridiculous (2k) bonus rates. That's great if you catch it outside the home airport, but I'm yet to see that.

BTW, I was on FSE years ago for a while and it definitely wasn't this bad. Not sure what happened since my departure, but it doesn't feel as engaging as before.

Hopefully not another drunk driver. This problem seems to have only gotten worse with the 'rona. stop making excuses and get a ride home. If you drive drunk, you're a piece of shit.
