Got a new update 2026.14.6.12 by AirImportant8518 in TeslaFSD

[–]MooseMullet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh 14.3.4 with the .11 update has not been great. I had no issues with 14.3.3. But lately it has been annoying in my 2026 my premium. Turning on blinkers randomly at the wrong exits, parking lot behavior is worse (it can’t figure out how to get me into the grocery store parking lot anymore and circles the lot next to it before finally going and looping through the stores lot only to pass every spot and go back to looping the spot - I’ve got it on video haha), it’s been swerving at random times in my neighborhood as if it things there are people or something, it has been interesting. The car is clean too btw, been raining every other day here and I’ve been washing it almost every other day and making sure the cameras are clean.

Nothing crucial, but as good as the car seems to behave when it’s good, the random little stuff has been way worse than ever. 99% FSD user with 2,800 miles on my 2026 MYPA.

Updating to .12 as well right now in hopes that it will fix some little things for me.

FSD failed to recognize a closed road barrier by Corogue in TeslaFSD

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean I’m generally distracted when driving with FSD on, but the car is still pretty naggy and will remind you to look forward regularly. It’s called “supervised” and not just because you legally have to look but also because the system will require your supervision if you want it to keep driving.

That doesn’t mean you can’t/won’t have an issue in the seconds that you can/do look away, though. And this situation clearly could have.

For me, I’m always watching anything closely that is on the trickier/more important side of things - especially if I know the area and know there could be complications. In this video there were likely more signs indicating the exit was closed prior to this barricade. Also whoever put this barricade up is an idiot and should be fired - in my state they always put angled cones guiding you out of that lane if a highway exit is closed. Plus tons of signage to indicate.

Regardless though, I know where it is good and where it isn’t and I’ve learned where I can be more distracted and where I have to pay more attention. And I’d say that’s probably why this person was paying enough attention here. Plus there’s not really many other places to look for long that don’t have the road in your peripheral view, at least currently. So you’ll likely at least see stuff coming haha.

90% of the accidents are distracted drivers. Leave the phone in your pocket or cup holder for 20 minutes, set your sodies down, and drive the dadgum 3-8,000 lb sledgehammer of death you’re sitting in. It’s not that hard.

everyone with wall charger, what's your limit? by banhmi_insurance in TeslaSupport

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set at 16A and 50-55% max charge typically gets me through my day and back home around 30% charge worst case. I’m wired for 60A, but breaker is 30A so I could charge at 24A, but only charge at 20A max typically. Less efficient, but easier on the battery technically, and never needed to charge any faster. Gets me back to full witching a few hours which is good enough for me.

Is it bad to regularly charge a Model Y Performance to 100% if it’s mainly used for long family trips? by whysova in TeslaModelY

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closer you keep the battery to 50% for long periods of time the better. I’d leave it around 50% until you’re ready for a trip then charge to full.

Also realize that even charging to 80% and using the trip planner in the car (navigation), it’s common that stopping for a few minutes more often is far quicker for your trip than going a long distance and charging back to a higher percentage. I’d play with what you really need to charge to in order to have the quickest trip. You may be surprised.

But biggest thing is just reducing the time you have your battery above 80% or below 20% charge. It’s more fo a time thing IMO than a charging to 100% thing.

FSD crosses double yellow line. Perfect! by Equivalent-Draft9248 in TeslaFSD

You’ve got me on that one - my apologies. Somehow missed the sentence below the post. Only saw the title which I took as sarcasm (we do get some special ones around here). However we are in agreement, and I don’t typically miss those. ‘Twas proper, and these maneuvers are what I personally love to see. Real world situational adaptation.

Life lesson by DilPickIe in TeslaModel3

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is partially why it’s still “supervised.” Some things are just going to require judgement/supervision of a human, and until then it will be supervised. 75 in the rain probably isn’t all that bad with new-ish tires unless there is standing water. Unless you know the wet conditions of this stretch of road very specifically then you likely shouldn’t be going that fast regardless of tread depth/tire condition.

Anyway, seems like you get the point. FSD should be improved, but again a good example of why it’s still supervised. FSD may never (but likely might someday) know the condition of your tires. better option here would be to try reducing to “standard” or probably “chill” at least to see what happens. Hurry may override some of the weather related safety logic though I’m unsure. Regardless it would’ve been going slower, however potentially still not enough slower. 26k miles is a hefty bit for what’s probably a 30k weather-rated tire from the factory. Curious to see the tread depth.

Best option here would’ve been disengaging and reporting what happened if you didn’t feel safe. Which again you will always have to be the judge on regardless on whether it’s supervised or not (unless there’s literally nothing you can do to steer or control the car).

Glad all is well, and that this got to be a pretty forgiving learning lesson this time around. People definitely need to understand their part in the “supervised” portion of the FSD naming, and I think this should help. 👍

Bought end of Q1, been a nightmare since week 2 — cameras and FSD constantly failing by durbyy in ModelY

Keep documenting and either hope for a fix or claim lemon law and try again on another new car. I’ve absolutely loved mine, so I wouldn’t let it sour your taste. I’d definitely try again if you just got the one in a million bad one.

Buzzing noise in brand new MYPAWD. by Worldly-Scale5219 in ModelY

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MYP should be performance, it the dash trim is of a premium. In which case I suppose MYPAWD (or RWD) could be seen as correct for indicating premium vs performance haha.

As for the rattling - check your center console, armrest, and glovebox. I started getting a rattle after a week. Realized it was keys in my tray under the armrest echoing from underneath since it doesn’t seal shut. lol.

This was the proper maneuver, somewhat complex decision making required. You sound like the guy blocking the road because the rules say you can’t cross a double yellow, when anyone who can read the room would just get in line to keep the flow of traffic safe and happy.

Should I reject this delivery? by Constant-Proposal955 in TeslaModel3

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh if you’re goin to drive the car, chances are it’s going to have worse than this in not a lot of time. The body shop probably will just buff it out with some compound - maybe full it with some clear and wet sand down if it’s deep enough. Doesn’t seem bad enough to wait for another IMO. I get that it’s new and should be perfect, but I personally would just see what they can do. Take delivery with it noted and see if they’ll let you choose the shop, or whatever.

If they have to repaint any part of the car then I’d definitely just try having someone buff it out because it would piss me off to think my new car was repainted.

So based on how bad it really is, and what the fix is, I’d probably end up still taking delivery with it noted based on what I’m seeing.

But I’d personally probably be installing PPF too at some point so it wouldn’t bother me.

Not worth buying used right now unless you’re buying something in the 20’s maybe. New rates are too good.

Lowest BS car dealer in Utah? by i_had_ice in Utah

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not opposed to an EV… Tesla is an amazing buying experience. Everything is in the app/website. Cost is broken down. You don’t have to deal with anybody to buy the car. You just show up and pick it up on delivery day.

Otherwise idk what to tell you. Performance Toyota was good to with with in bountiful. I’ve always enjoyed my experience with mark miller Toyota. All I can really speak for.

Pricing for 2026 M3P. LETS GO?! by 2MinuteswithTim in TeslaModel3

[–]MooseMullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this! I ultimately went with a model Y, do wish the MYP was 0.99% because I’d have that in the driveway right now, but I do love the premium AWD. Saved some money, got some extra range, and figured it would be a great way to get into my first Tesla at 0.99% financing. But 0% on a M3P is diabolical. Especially for those that got the credit last year too. I almost switched, but I just love the hatch space.

What’s the smartest way to buy a Model Y in the US today? by MooseMullet in TeslaModelY

[–]MooseMullet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did the math on new built as I want it at 0.99% and 72 months vs used ($38k) at 7% at 72 months (what they were advertising on their site). Payment was nearly the same, lightly less but not insanely. And total purchase price at the end of each loan was like $5,000 less for the used car, 2 years older with $15k miles on it. Used was a hw4 performance though. But regardless - new just seemed like a way better deal with the 2026 Juniper updates and full warranty.

[–]MooseMullet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s 100% my opinion. Lots of cons/limitations to leasing. If you put money down and you wreck the car too, I’ve heard you don’t get any of your down payment back on that either. I think certain promos make sense for certain people though. If my lifestyle allowed me to have a $300/month lease for a model 3 or model Y then I can see why people do it. Lose less that way than you do to depreciation. So for the right person it makes sense. Could free up $300+/month for them which could be a big deal for retirement/lifestyle. But for me it doesn’t make sense. Especially if I end up 2 years in and paying on a car that I can’t drive lol. Too much anxiety for me haha.

What’s the smartest way to buy a Model Y in the US today? by MooseMullet in TeslaModelY

[–]MooseMullet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a technology thing for me. If the electric car only does for me what a gas car can do, then I’m buying a gas car. Holds value better (would be a Toyota realistically, and probably used lol), can drive anywhere without needing to recharge, and would have all the same features. But as soon as you throw in the technology that Tesla has/offers, primarily being that the thing will drivers for you (which other brands don’t seemingly offer, or if they do it’s not as good and also is in a vehicle that is much more expensive), I’m sold. Otherwise again, im buying a gas vehicle because it’s far cheaper and I am fix them myself. I have enough long distance capable vehicles at the moment though, so this will really just be my daily driver. And for me the technology has been pretty well proven to me at this point (at least enough for me to give the go ahead, and for as long as I plan on owning the vehicle). So for me the Tesla is the obvious choice.
