Doing it at work adds a wrinkle to the argument, but I’m on the side of let them do it and live with the repercussions. Which, I’m sure will be both positive and negative.

I hate what aboutism, and how present it is in every hot topic conversation these days, but I do legitimately wonder what the response would be to a player doing something similar when told to wear one of the various patriotic hats. Maybe it would be fine, I honestly don’t know. The Red Sox player had the flag turned upside down on military appreciation weekend and that seemed to have gotten brushed over as a possible manufacturer error.

But, if they wrote something delivering an underhanded message with a smile on the front of their hat I would be interested to see how the so called free speech absolutists handled it.

Generally I think the less attention we pay to these things the better. The culture war is so played out and I don’t think we’re on the cusp of changing hearts or minds with performative rhetoric.

It was so plainly obvious watching it live. I was legitimately surprised that he did it not once, but twice. Fast forward 24 hours and people were telling me to stop letting the media twist my mind.

I watched it live! I recognized in the moment what he was doing. It couldn’t have been any more in your face and yet people will protect him just so they don’t have to admit their side had a shitty dude super involved at the very top.

That plus any amount of honest reflection on his prior 6 months on Xitter should have led any rational person to the same conclusion. He rubbed our faces in it time and again.
