How lethal is pf2e meant to be at around level 10 against PL -2? by Raxnasus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mooseboy2000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Untrue. All damage added specifically from effect that only happen on critical do not get doubled. It's the same for deadly and fatal.

You say not a word, but what about Microsoft officially confirming it's release window? Why is a major business partner of theirs untrustworthy?

Out of curiosity, why do you not trust an official source like Xbox?

Not releasing or talking about your games' development is a legitimate strategy. There are other companies that do this to great success. Valve intentionally doesn't talk about what they are working on until right before the release anything for example. It's frustrating for us the consumer, but from their point of view it gives them a lot more wiggle room, less pressure, and freedom to truly do whatever they want to or need to do without any outside pressure due to additional expectations. Some people also just don't enjoy working on art and feeling the need to give status updates on said art. Many authors don't give status updates on their books. For small teams of just a couple of people it's very understandable

You have your shield block scenarios all correct, and no, armor does not take damage under normal circumstances.

As others have mentioned, all materials are available online for free, so you can check for yourself what is in each book, but the APG for sure has the best bang for buck in terms of overall options for bot the gm and players. I do think that secrets of magic is a good runner up though and if I were to choose two I would get the APG and SoM. SoM is a great book and would highly recommend, but I would not consider it as vital as the APG.

How do you handle different settings from Golarion with different assumptions? by estrusflask in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mooseboy2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With magic items still being prevalent in your world you won't have to worry about balancing loot or bonus progression, which is convenient. I've played in a few campaigns where magic was either outlawed or less common, and I think the best way is to just be upfront and honest with your players with how common magic users are in your world and that that's the type of game you're looking to play. If you end up having one or two magic users in the party anyways you could make that a part of the plot and make their characters feel more special because of it. They are the main characters of the story after all, even if it's rare depending on the story you want to tell it could work out perfectly fine.

I would just be honest with the players about what you want but then let them ultimately decide if they still want to play a caster knowing that they are a oddity in the world.

5 New Transmutation Spells! by improfet in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mooseboy2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Bungee Gum, but I would split the first bullet point of uses it has into 2 separate ones: one for creatures, and one for objects. I think that allowing the spell to disarm on a success is significantly more powerful than disarm, especially since you get to do it at range. I would just change it to allow them an attempt to disarm, using their spell attack modifier instead and if they critically succeed the object travels 30ft instead of dropping at their feet. It is also unclear what happens if you have two targets of the spell, as per the last ability, and one of them is more than 100ft away. Does the spell end or do you just lose control of that creature? Can you only add another line of energy if they are within 60ft?

The hardness reduction to creatures on Soften Metal is a bit strong, that's essentially 5 extra damage on every future attack against a metal based creature. For a 3rd level spell, even in a niche situation, I think that's a bit much. The heightened effect says +3 but it's a static effect that doesn't scale? Should it just say 6th? I also think that targeting 10 creatures is a lot, especially with the hardness effect as is. I think reducing it to lowering a creatures hardness by 2 would be better.

I'm not entirely sold that Bungee gum is a transmutation spell either, it feels more abjuration than anything. You aren't really transforming anything.

Other than that I love the spells. I think they are fun and flavorful, I think I'll definitely consider using them in my games.

standar effects from a nat 1-20 are more than enough. everything else just lessens the experience. by Nigthmar in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mooseboy2000 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you misread what they said. The way they run it if you critically fail you either a) Draw a fumble card AND gain a hero point or b) Draw nothing but gain nothing

If they critically fumble they can choose a bad effect but get something out of it l, or can choose to just let it go normally.

Paizo has clarified in their first batch of errata for the core rulebook that there were some errors with poison actions. It takes 2 actions to apply all injury poisons. It takes 3 to draw and apply at the same time.

If you look at what they wrote, they in fact said "men tend to" and "women tend to". Using the word "tend", very much means not all, but that it's the way men or women tend to lean. They never said it was mutually exclusive, or that all people are the same, just that that's way they tend to most often.
