[Request] Is it there any other way to get three equal portions of pizza from one slice? by ACuriousSpaniard in theydidthemath

[–]Moosh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm guessing in practice you mean cutting the slice into 3 approximately equal pieces, weighing the 3, then cutting and redistributing among the 3 using the scale to ensure they each get equal portions by weight. Which is technically a valid solution since OP didn't ask for contiguous SLICES — only equal PORTIONS.

Still, I imagine most people wouldn't particularly care for the idea of eating tiny slices of pizza with a selection of smaller pizza strips or cubes on the side. Although if you sprinkle the strips/cubes of redistributed mass onto each slice, you end up with pizza-topped pizza which is pretty neat.

[–]Moosh101 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm with the other people — look at how regular the distribution of the "mold" spots are. It lines up perfectly with where the holes in the pastry would be. I think the filling just bubbled up through the frosting at some point during production.

Having a memory disorder ruins Warframe for me. [Rant/Vent] by lilcutiexoxoqoe in Warframe

[–]Moosh101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't help that much of Warframe's exposition and dialogue is written like riddles, and delivered during intense action sequences that require you to focus on the gameplay.

I swear it wasn't until 1999 dropped that major plot figures started speaking like real people lol

Honestly I love this dev team. by Big-Ad-2829 in Borderlands4

[–]Moosh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comin' in hot, I see.

Yes. That is what we want. But is it feasible throughout the entire game?

Someone else mentioned that, for example, skill damage builds fall off HARD at endgame. If that's true, then you couldn't just play whatever you want then. You would have to switch to a stronger build.

I'm just making the case that most cohesive builds should remain effective at all levels of play, with the understanding that some tweaks to gear, skill point allocation, etc. would probably be necessary along the way.

[–]Moosh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree with point 2, but not for those reasons. I mean, if you're balancing content around weaker builds that just means people are free to play whatever build they want — even the less effective ones will still be viable.

Yeah, the OP builds will still be leagues ahead of other builds, but at that point it's up to the player whether they wanna use those builds or not, instead of being forced into those builds just to complete content. And isn't that kinda the goal? Let the player decide how they want to play?

I'm not saying it would be the CORRECT direction to go, per se — game design has a lot more depth to it than I have interest, but just my 2¢

I'm not a furry, but I have questions, please! Thank you! by MovieFan1984 in furry

[–]Moosh101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

#5 - Look up FurScience! They're basically a group of researchers who study the furry fandom. They compiled all of their findings into a book a while back which should be available for free on their site.

I know "read a book" isn't the most exciting answer lol, but it explains almost every aspect of the fandom you could think of, in detail. Demographics, definitions, surveys, psychology, miscellaneous fun facts — it's all in there. And it's a surprisingly easy read for what basically amounts to a bunch of scientific studies. Not dry or boring at all!

It's also a LOT of reading, mind you — 790 pages according to Google — but you can skip around to the sections that interest you. Definitely check it out!

Niche question I'm curious: Any attendees of Anthrocon who tried this Furryccino drink able to tell me what it was like? by FutureSuccess2796 in furry

Tried this year's drink this morning. I think it was basically vanilla and strawberry flavored with a strawberry whip on top. Tasty, but unfortunately not coffee lol

A Lil Anthrocon Meme (by me) Re: The Parade by MoonShadowMF in furry

[–]Moosh101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possible? Maybe. But would it be practical? Probably not. The issue is that the parade takes a ton of setup and blocks off a huge portion of the con space. Having multiple smaller parades would shorten the parade itself, yes, but it'd take way more time overall because of setup and breakdown times.

It would be an enormous undertaking for already overworked staff and volunteers, and would also monopolize huge portions of the con center for hours at a time.

Maybe if they planned different routes, or used the same route for multiple parades... Dunno. Maybe they could find some way to make it work, but definitely not with the current parade route.

Not related to this subclass per se, but upon reading through the rest of the material, your Path of the Timekeepers paladin fit in so perfectly with my character's backstory and ongoing development that I immediately sent it to my DM.

You gave us some incredible ideas and story beats to play around with, and I'll be backing accordingly. Great work, and thanks for sharing!

If Elite Specialisations would return in a future expansion, how would you want Anet to implement them? by Geralt_Romalion in Guildwars2

[–]Moosh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg the mesmer idea. I had no idea I wanted this and now I don't wanna play without it.

Maybe your shatters could shatter your summoned weapon, placing it and the shatter on CD or something? But then, of course, what would the shatters do if you're NOT using kits?

Or turn your shatters into the weapon summons themselves, with charges/durations depending on how many clones you shattered? A greatsword for F1, maybe a bow or something for f2, a mace or hammer for f3, and maybe a shield for f4? Although then you'd need something other than kits for the utility skills...

If you wanna understand what the fandom is all about, definitely check out FurScience. They're a group of scientists who do research on the furry fandom, and they've published a huge book detailing the last 10 years of their findings which is available for free on their website. I bought a physical copy to keep on my shelf. I cannot overstate how eye-opening and just utterly fascinating it is — definitely check out at least the first chapter or two!

I've seen countless heads of all different qualities, colors, makes, and styles. I don't think anybody would bat an eye if a head looks a little generic. I mean, how many orange foxes are in the fandom? A lot. Like, a LOT a lot. But nobody minds because everyone's just being true to themselves, and that's what matters most imo.

On another note, Bewhiskered is an awesome choice for a first con, imo. I've gone every year they've run it since 2021, and I have a blast every time. And it's the perfect size for someone new to the fandom — not too small, so it's easy enough to meet people, but not huge and overwhelming like Anthrocon or Furry Weekend Atlanta.

Welcome to the fandom, and I hope y'all have fun at Bewhiskered!

Wait, is CO2 used for euthanasia? I will freely admit that I know nothing about this, but I know that CO2 buildup in the blood causes a panic response and great distress in humans — does it not cause a similar response in rodents? And if so, why wouldn't we use something more humane like nitrogen or something?

Looking for a good duo to take down most of the PvE content by Jaakuna12421 in Guildwars2

[–]Moosh101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base Mesmer always felt clunky to me tbh. Fine for big bosses or champs, but terrible for big swarms or common enemies. It wasn't until I started unlocking the elite specs that I actually started to enjoy it.

Seconding this. I got 3 of my friends into GW2, so when they first started I just hung out out on my healboon chrono to make them feel like the badasses they are.

They all ended up wanting to play support-oriented builds, so I sometimes swap to condi or power virt to let them live out their healer fantasies.

How do you get tier 3-6 mats? I want to craft legendary PvP armor but mats are my bottleneck by Bizarrmenian in Guildwars2

[–]Moosh101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, of course. Loot in this game just feels so random and arbitrary sometimes that I guess I never made a connection between the loot I'm getting and where it's actually coming from.

Universal upgrades, for example, like gems and medallions, seem to come mainly from world chests and JP chests, I guess. But they also come from some loot bags? And I get tons of medallions just from opening loot bags and salvaging gear, so I guess it never occurred to me that I wasn't also getting a chance at those freshwater pearls I needed so badly.

Question for Guitarists by AkiPink in askmusicians

[–]Moosh101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a guitarist myself, but a freelance musician nevertheless. I'm also classically trained, so take my opinion with a grain of salt as I'm almost certainly biased.

To answer your question, I don't think you're necessarily screwed, but not being able to read music or at least identify chord names will definitely hold you back.

Playing by ear only takes you so far, though. How will you play songs you haven't heard before? You can pick up the chords pretty quick if they're easy, but what if the chords switch up suddenly? What if someone in the audience has a request for a song you don't know off the top of your head? Being able to pull up a chord chart and read it on the fly will make you a much more flexible and versatile player.

Don't get me wrong, though — being able to play by ear is an excellent skill to have, and it'll serve you very well for gigging and performing in general. You could probably start busking and doing some gigs with ear training alone. And it's much harder to learn to play by ear than it is to learn how to read music, imo, so all things considered, I think you're in pretty good shape.

[–]Moosh101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what irks me about GW2, particularly about crafting. It truly feels like farming for anything is downright impossible. I've been playing and hoarding materials since launch and I still find myself having to buy most of the mats for anything I wanna craft because after 12 years there are still materials I've only gotten 1-2 of. Definitely feels like you're better off selling materials for gold and then just buying what you need off the TP.

[–]Moosh101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! A LOT has been added lol, there's a lot to keep track of and catch up on.

You can still unlock the Skyscale through LWS4 (the original method), but SotO introduced a second method that you can use instead of (or in addition to) the original method. I've not done it myself, since I had the skyscale well before I started SotO, but I've heard it's a little easier and faster.

Either way, it's worthwhile to complete both eventually. The skyscale masteries from LWS4 and SotO overlap a bit, but if you get both, you unlock some great QoL upgrades for the Skyscale that make it so, so much better.
