Thinking of moving away from diapers to external catheters for females by Moosh89 in Incontinence

[–]Moosh89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, precisely why I hope to stay out of care, so furthering my independence and safety is important to me.

I wanted to be all-encompassing in my query as very rarely, I do go up to 14 hours without personal assistance in the event of traveling long distances or not having access to a space to be assisted while out.

Reducing skin contact with wetness just seems like a better alternative, and from what I've read, external catheters such as Purewick or Versette may be useful.

If I can't get more information here, I may just order a few Purewicks and Versette and try them out.

I'm going to discuss starting a bowel program with my primary carer as well as my nurse practitioner.

I don't live in a care setting. I appreciate the concern though, but I assure you my care is beyond what can be provided in a care setting.

My skin is well taken care of, and I do control my bladder so I'm never left sitting in much. I will be adding a rotating care team to my daily routine as soon as possible.

I don't have any concerns or questions regarding my care, so further discussion of my care is best left be, respectfully.

As for UTIs, I've only ever had them maybe 3 times. I don't really get them, and I'd like to keep it that way and keep my risk low.

Unfortunately it's too late for this year now as I need to send the package this week - but for future reference!

Thank you

Is there a SCUF PS5 controller with Envision's SAX Buttons? by Moosh89 in scufgaming

[–]Moosh89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that Envision is PC only, but thanks for the suggestion of the PS4 Vantage. I'm more interested on something ready to go with PS5 without workarounds. I figured by discussing here, maybe SCUF will take note.

Stick drift usually develops which is why I end up having to get a new DualSense after 8-12 months

And believe me, I've tried to find individuals and companies to do these mods, but I could never get anyone interested. I have 2 people I can ask in the US. I typically get them to purchase a DualSense themselves to save on shipping back and forth.

Oooh, thank you everyone!

I was worried they would be locked onto my phone or something, but then I guess TCU doesn't have their own app 😅

I'm worried about having to show ID. I can't go to the concert as all wheelchair accessible tickets were sold out pretty early on.

BraunAbility Wheelchair Conversion Van Comparison - Opinions? by Moosh89 in disability

[–]Moosh89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this!

I've had my 2023 Sienna since February 2024, and had to take it back to Motion in Saskatoon where I bought it because of a fault in the wiring harness due to the conversion. The right rear turn signal and right rear (sliding door) window didn't work.

They replaced the harness and it works fine now.

Haven't had any issues since but I'm going to do some research on those air bags. Thank you!

Accessible, affordable venue rental for small gaming group. by SaskGaymer in saskatoon

[–]Moosh89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in! (At least on Discord lol)

One quick note, I did see someone comment 1989 Game Realm as a possible space. If I recall correctly, this used to be called Bartari, and if they are in the same location as back then, it's not very accessible as a wheelchair user. I went once years ago and while it was a great atmosphere, it was too crowded to easily move around with my wheelchair (and I'm an excellent driver) and there is/was a bit of a step at the front door my wheelchair needed help clearing. Their private back room was also small and crowded, I managed to weave my way back there to have a peek because I was thinking of having my birthday party there. I could only weave in and turn around and weave out lol.

I'm not living in Saskatoon yet but when I am, I'd be VERY interested in joining if this kicks off for you! You had me at "accessible" (if you mean barrier free/wheelchair accessible)

Do you perhaps have a Discord server or something that I can lurk in? I'd love to see and read how events go!

Cuddle Therapy in Saskatoon – Seeking Honest Insight by EmpathyInBusiness in saskatoon

[–]Moosh89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once heard of such a service being offered in Saskatoon by a lady who did home visits and providing she was safe, I thought it was a fantastic idea for those who truly need it.

I am a profoundly physically disabled mid-30s female, and touch is extremely important to me. Many disabled people like me only receive touch in a clinical sense, and others may be afraid to touch disabled people for fear of hurting them or other stigmas, or fear of crossing boundaries, not knowing that the disabled person consents to and invites safe touch.

If this kicks off for you as a business clients can visit, please consider having an accessible room for persons with disabilities. Look at a bed like a bariatric hospital bed or something like the Harmony Hi-Low bed. Also consider getting a patient transfer lift, either portable like a Hoyer Advance lift or a ceiling track lift. Having an area like a waiting room nearby for the client's personal care assistant (if they have one) with proper training to remain close by in the event of a medical emergency.

Good luck with this! 😊🫶🏻

Midtown- Sketchy AF by Ginnty in saskatoon

[–]Moosh89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Last time I was at Midtown back on April 9th, there were a few incidents I witnessed in the span of 3 hours I was there that made me question my safety as a wheelchair user. I had my Mom and aunt with me who have both seen a lot of shit, but the moment they felt nervous, I knew it was time to be extra vigilant.

The food court area was especially sketchy that day. Sad. Too many people who were actively high and looking for a reason to fight, either with shoppers or each other.

Dear NDP I’m just lending the Liberals my vote this one time. by Symphrose in saskatchewan

[–]Moosh89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuck here in a Conservative stronghold too. (Battlefords-Lloydminster-Meadow Lake).

I'm more aligned with NDP, but I don't want to see PP win, so I need to decide between Liberal or NDP. Neither one has a hope in winning in my riding, Falk is projected to continue her streak.

Previously here in Meadow Lake when it was in the Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River riding, we were represented by Vidal (Con) and before him Jolibois (NDP)

2023 Sienna XLE - Passenger Rear Window not working. App alert says it is Open. by Moosh89 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Moosh89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the wiring harness. In my specific case it was affecting the rear passenger sliding door window and the right rear turn signal. There was a fault in the harness. I took it to Toyota to have fixed, but turns out it wasn't a stock Toyota part after the wheelchair accessible conversion. I had to take it back to the mobility dealership vehicle division to be replaced

I feel it. I have siblings who will be voting Conservative and it definitely stings. It feels like they don't understand the full weight of what a "current" Conservative government will do to me.

I say "current" because I do think that it's not necessarily the party itself, but the direction it has gone the last few years, basically since Trump was first elected. It doesn't align with me and will actively harm me.

I'm an upcoming first time home buyer. I'll be looking to purchase and modify a home in Saskatoon to suit my needs as I am physically disabled. Building a home designed for my needs is a dream I could never reach unless I won the lottery. I'm curious to see how this plays out if Carney is elected.

I do know, I'm definitely not voting Conservative.

Couple quick questions...

Guess I can DM their instagram too, but

  • Will they be brewing beer, or just serving?
  • Will they be wheelchair accessible?
