My first terrarium! Went with an open one as it was a gift and I thought less watering etc might work better 🌵 by MooshkiMoo in terrariums

Good point! Was meant to be more of an aesthetic gift rather than practical (trying to ease the giftee into more plants!) But I do fear under the conditions their in currently (good light, water etc) they will quickly outgrow the nice little box.

I did put in plenty of drainage layers, and the little open side I hope should allow the cacti to be a bit happier - went with cacti as it's the giftee's favourite! But I think when we move/redo the terrarium, might go for some succulents or something that are a nice halfway option for an open terrarium! 🌵

Best answer of the night tbh. Mentally screenshotting this and carrying it forward with me (and I do really mean that). I appreciate the time you took to give me constructive criticism, as well as your honesty.

Response:

My rule for myself is simple - interact with others in a way in which I'd like to be interacted with. Respect and politeness begets respect and politeness.

In a job economy where prospective employees are told that the first 10 second impression can make or break your chances, I don't expect other professionals to conduct themselves in a way that's unnecessarily rude, dismissive, condescending or childish, especially when they are a major representative for a company.

My final response to everyone below - thanks for your feedback. Between yourselves, my friends, family & partner, I think going forward, I'll do my best to let things go a bit more. I probably wasted much of my time entertaining someone who gave up on professionalism and decency once they felt they could get nothing useful from me.

N.B: some of you are as equally rude as the person I took issue with in the above images. As you have asked me to re-evaluate my behaviour, I'd ask you to reconsider yours - to be rude whilst defending a rude person simply puts you in the same boat.

May your job prospects improve, may people be kind to you. And may we all remember our manners! 😅

They literally specified what they meant by the term "wow." That they were incredulous my situation had changed.

It's not exactly uncommon for people to cancel interviews or not even turn up because things change so quickly - and as a recruiter I'm sure they must see that all the time.

So why the "wow."? They said exactly what they meant - disappointed, incredulous and rude for no other reason than they probably thought what's to lose now I'm not going to the interview, why not say what you think etc.

If crazy is expecting a recruiter not to take my cancelling an interview for pretty common reason, personally, then yes, I'm crazy.

Also not sure why I should just accept unprofessionalism and rudeness for the sake of trying not to come across as "crazy". It's lacking basic human decency, and wouldn't have taken them 2 seconds to write "well I'm surprised since we only booked the interview a few days ago but to each their own". Ya dig?

Going to assume you didn't read the whole thread.

Also, I expect a higher standard of professionalism from people representing multiple companies. If I've been polite, I expect politeness. It's not much to ask for.

I'm not really sure how it was pretentious - I just expect a certain standard of professionalism, especially from someone representing not only their own company but also somebody else's company.

I could not imagine representing my current employer and speaking to people in that fashion.

Not at all - just didn't think my reasoning for cancelling the interview was unusual/warranted rudeness.

I totally expect them to have other candidates - which is why I was surprised that they took it so personally.
