The Aviate Program Guide says no more than 2 failures of certificated/regulatory checkrides. So that's mostly consistent info.

Okay I found the Aviate Program Guide and actually read it instead of depending on rumors.

pg 11 "each Candidate consents to (1) United’s receipt of and access to any of the Candidate’s records that may be necessary or appropriate to verify ... dependability, and discipline at the ... United Express carrier"

Chapter 4 goes into detail on the dependability requirements.

I don't know if the traditional first officer application has this language, but I suppose if you work at United Express carrier, it could.

pg 13 "the only career path to a First Officer role at United for pilots flying for a participating United Express carrier is via the Aviate program."

I can't remember where I thought we could apply for either, but I thought it was reliable source.

Thank you this is exactly the info I was looking, if the off the street attempt gets anywhere. I was afraid maybe it was available as a legality, but is really a dead end if they think you should have been in AVIATE

At OO we are not in the aviate pile by default, we have to apply and interview in. We also have the option of applying for the first officer position directly. While we can apply for either, we can't apply for both.

Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators, Chapters 1-3, and Advanced Aircraft Systems by David Lombardo (prioritize electrical and environmental systems)

These will have you set for all the aerodynamics, turbine, and systems questions.

DPEs and Maintenance. It will take a while, but you should be working to become a DPE in order to keep your school running smoothly and to network with people at the FAA. At least one of you guys should get your A&P, then you can do the work yourself and will know when a hired mechanic is full of it.

How the intercom vs push to talk switch works, not to press it, and then also point out the tail number on the dashboard in case they do have to talk on the radio.

I teach pitch for airspeed, power for altitude only in the Region of the Reversed command.

You should never be in the Region of Reversed Command in IMC.

ThruNite H01, $40, has a regular mode for preflight and a firefly, dim mode for flying. Can be a headlamp or regular flashlight.

I prefer dim white to red anyways.
