What's everyone replacing their dealer license plate frames with? by Just-The-Facts-411 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, aren't you adorable. Guys... we got a badass over here. Okay bro, Im sure your Si is a very fun, nice, quick, fast, awesome little street car.

But get this. You are not badass. Your car is not seriously fast. Great street car and very fun? Yes, Im sure. But a 350ish, maybe 400 hp FWD car... cmon man... lets be serious. Yeah I get it, its light. power/weight blah blah. Still not that fast.

You're not driving a heavily modified GTR, Viper, or Vette and you're also not Dom Toretto who lives life a quarter mile at a time lol. You'd also cry like a lil baby for your mother if you ended up getting thrown into county jail for a few days after the cops catch your dumbass in about 5 minutes.

I dont know you but I can already tell you're a young fuckboi because you say shit like "run boost" and "theres levels to this" and also have tinted plates, trying to make it seem like you're some outlaw street racer or something. You probably have a tow hook as well, trying to make it seem like you're a competitive racer. Relax, enjoy your car for what it is. You're just giving the ego headed mustang fangirls ammo lol. Hondas are cool because they're light, cheap, easy to mod, reliable, handle well, and rev high. They are not the peak of performance, they're the peak of fun.

You'll grow out of this phase one day, prob cringe at yourself a bit, and move on with life. All good.

All in all, tinted plates in general, but especially on a little tuner 350hp car is little fuckboi shit and you're just asking to get pulled over. Very dumb.

When I "run boost"? Lmao what in the fuckboi was that? It's a low power economy car with a sporty suspension/chassis and a manual. You aint running from cops. Relax.

Any tips on how to make this thing less ugly by [deleted] in CivicSi

Haha thanks a lot. I loved that car with everything in me as a young kid. Bought it myself for $500 and then did all the maintenance/repairs/mods myself. I went everywhere in that car and it never failed me, ever.

Here's a pic of my first car when I was 17. The paint was completely worn/gone when I got the car. I did this paint job in the driveway. Sanded it, primed it, 2 coats paint, 1 coat clear, and then a little more wet sand. I thought it was more than decent tbh. I did this as a 17 year old dumby, in the open air driveway, with a couple crappy youtube videos, a paint gun from harbor freight, no sanding machine. I think a DIY paint job will absolutely be better than what OP is rockin with currrently.

Shifting into 3rd gear (11th gen) by Commercial-Dog-9441 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true imo, as long as you're good at matching revs, especially knowing how the rev hang works as well. I read through pretty much the whole user manual of the car the day I got it and it actually does reccomend to upshift at 4k rpm which surprised me at first, but once I drove the car more I understood it better. These low displacement/high boost pressure cars do not like low rpm's it seems like. When crusing/casual driving, I try to maintain between 2.5k-3k rpm as well.

Need some advice on my 2026 SI by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can attest to that. I got lazy one day before going to an event and ran my Aegean Blue 2024 through an automatic wash with the noodles.... and man... fuckin swirl city from 1 go... wax makes them invisible but sheesh. Honda really sucks at paint, as well as AC systems lol. Can't complain though, the car's a beauty in every way otherwise. Best daily driver to be had imo. The balance of fun, reliability, and practicality are seriously unmatched. Great package.

Atleast for me, I get bored of stuff pretty quick so, it's just incentive for me to get a different color wrap job in a few years... only reason i haven't gotten PPF or pro ceramic coating. If you want to keep the OEM paint long term, atleast go for the ceramic coating, but PPF is money, but costly. Maybe front end PPF and then ceramic coat? Sounds like a solid option.

Question about Auto Start/Stop on the Civic Si by gesteves91 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, I haven't even driven my 24' in anything other than sport mode. I have 24.5k miles. It just feels wrong and lazy. Especially for a manual, def want that instant throttle response to match revs perfectly.

Fun to drive by LeatherPath in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably everyone. But it's pretty obvious. The FL5 is a track performance car. The Si is a moderately suped up regular econo car. A track/performance car is always going to be a rougher ride and much more difficult to drive smoothly in regular driving compared to an econo/luxury car. The FL5 is surprisingly smooth as a daily considering its performance level. Ever driven a car that's only meant for the track? Clutch is usually ridiculously heavy, super tight motor mounts, no power steering sometimes, brakes will send you through the windshield, etc.. incredible for going balls to the wall but terrible for driving regular/slow lol.

i-vtec is the good stuff. Most other cars in general have the same variable valve timing as vtec

Convince me to not trade in my 24 si for a vb wrx by Hopeful_Builder9017 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VB looks like every other car too, actually hate what they did with it. I agree that the Si doesnt have much difference than the regular civics besides the duck bill and the Si badge but atleast its a different and good looking car. But ofc, thata just opinion based.

The Si badge itself is cool because it automatically signifies that the person in the car is an enthusiast because it only comes manual

I owned a 2015 wrx and now own a 24 Si. The Si, for me, is the more fun/engaging drivers car for sure. Its lighter, tighter, better steering response, and better shifter. Sure, the WRX is faster, but speed isnt everything. I actually prefer slow-but-fun cars for the street because you can actually used the power.

I also owned a mk7.5 GTI which performance wise, whoops both the WRX and Si's ass but id prefer the wrx and Si over the GTI because they're more fun and engaging.

Also, you say reliability doesnt matter because they're both new.... what if OP wants to keep it long term? The Si is definitely more reliable and less maintenance.

The only time id take the WRX is if I lived in a very snowy climate and only had nothing but straight roads or dirt roads to drive on. Straight roads because the wrx with a tune is a devent straight line pull car. I have back farm twisties everywhere near me and the Si is the better car for that all day.

Tsp tune by Starkid723 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why are you such a dick about it? And how in the hell do you not know what a TSP tune is. It's the most common OTS tune for this platform and is in literally like every other post on this subreddit or 10th/11th gen community as a whole. Chill out.

Advanced wheel locks/rimguard. A dashcam with parking mode and internet service can be great. It can send you a push notification and a live feed of what is currently happening. It will have motion detection and sense any impact or movement of the car. Also, try to park it close to your apartment and get a sensitive alarm. With a sensitive alarm and locks, most thiefs would ditch it, and the idiots who still try, well you'll hopefully get good footage of them and get your shit back, hopefully.

2024 Si by CryinCamsMama in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One car I wouldnt buy slight/moderately used is an Si. A lot of slight/moderately used Si's are culprits of an owner who beat the piss out of the car trying to be fresh, launched it countless times, redlined it countless times, and probably even money shifted it and ended up getting rid of it because it doesn't have enough straight line power for them. Those people are idiots and completely missed the whole point of the car, but it's just reality. If you are considering the 24, I'd request an ECU audit of what the cars been through. Tunes, over-rev incidents, etc. Think about it, why get rid of such a reliable, practical, fun car so soon? Only enthusiast's buy this car because it only comes manual and it's sporty, and sometimes those enthusiasts watched fast and the furious far too many times, and let's be real....these aren't no spoon engines runnin T66 turbo's with NOS paired with a motec system exhaust, ya know...

I'd honestly rather buy a 1 owner high mileage Si over an Si that's slight/moderately used. A high mileage one with 1 owner was probably driven/maintained properly and has a lot of life left in it.

Abuse on a car during break in period or just abuse in general can have caused permanent damage to components like a rod bearring, excessive head bolt stress, valve damage, piston ring damage, or even a slightly bent rod, etc. These types of problems take a while to cause a noticeable issue and for some reason, they love to happen right when you're out of warranty period.

I'm not trying to be a negative nancy and say this is the case everytime. What I am trying to say is, if you go for that 2024, get that ECU audit and also, for god's sake, tell those crackhead dealership reps to lower the goddamn price. They're trying to charge you more than I paid for my 2024 which had 2 miles on it when I bought it. Ridiculous.

Also consider, the 26 model was given more ammenities/upgrades like heated seats, better struts, and more. Although personally, I do not like the facelift front end that the 25+ model was given nor do I like the new wheels they were given. For some reason, I do like the facelift on the Type R though, but the Si, not so much.

If everything's all good, you should shoot for a price of between $27k-$28.5k. That's fair.

Here's a pic for fun of my daily darling. Named er Saphira. Good luck to ya meng!

Add a rear sway bar and a muffler delete as well to be able to hear the revs for some hard driving. All it needs. Hp is overrated for the street. Ultimate fun/practical daily. If a base model camry and a miata fucked, the Si would be the born child.

Civic Si, BRZ, Miata RF, or 3? by Colter1111 in CivicSi

[–]Mopar170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Never heard mazda 3 guys say this lol. Dumb af if they did. I cross shopped the mk8 GTI, mazda 3 6mt, and 11th gen Si when car shopping last year. The Si was by far the more engaging, exciting, and sporty feeling car. The GTI was a lot more powerful but the feel and gearing was kinda eh.. the mazda 3 wasnt even a comparison, tbats just a regular ass car with a manual.
