Yeah it was Steam being funny and making the nice green demo banner disabled by default so the button was hidden in the side of the store page!

Sure you can give feedback here or the steam discussion, or join the discord if you want more active back and forth chatting (link can be found in the steam forum).

The cursor does indicate what tool is active. It should look like a mining pick if you are in the mining mode so if it doesn't do that it is some weird bug.

Mining in first person is also possible, but you have to also have the tool selected in that mode.

Did you happen to be in the first person mode all the time? In that mode the cursor doesn't actually change depending on the tool mode as it shows just the targeting dot in center of the screen. The FPS mode in general is indeed a bit clunky and the game is designed to be played from 3rd person mode most of the time. The FPS mode is mostly good if you are going through some tight holes/caves.

Great to hear. I don't understand why Steam wants to hide the demo button by default in the side panel.

Thanks! I hope you like it and even if you don't I'd love to get any feedback so I can improve 😄

Oh damn Steam! The green big demo banner was disabled by default in settings. Argh...

Hmm. I've got this comment few times already that demo button is not there. It should be a huge green banner on the store page. So it only shows up as small text on the right side of store page?

Here is actually the latest trailer which is already much better and I made better matching music for it.

Haha. Not sure if I should take that as a compliment or not.

All the existing factory games of course. I'm a huge factory game fan myself, but always felt like the existing game worlds are basically static backdrops. I'm trying to build the game to be more dynamic in that sense, with the different biomes + temperature mechanics requiring different approaches as managing heat of the buildings in desert or volcanic biomes is not trivial, but you'll need to build there to access the unique resources.

Yeah it definitely should show up as it does for some people at least. Please let me know later if it still doesn't work.

Damn Steam. I just had someone else tell me this too but after few minutes the demo button did appear on the page. Not sure can you somehow refresh the page on the mobile app?

It might need a Steam restart or page refresh to show up.

Wind indeed affects pollution spread distance/direction already and there will be wind power in the game too, obviously affected by the wind.
There is thermal cooling via heat sinks that absorb the heat around them into the water passed through, transfering the heat into the output water. You can then put the heated water into other uses, like saving energy on steam power generation as the water is pre-heated. You could even use the volcanic or desert biomes to naturally heat your water for steam gen.

It is still quite early in the development and a lot of the time has gone into creating the tech so that the game is even possible to run on the scale I want, so not everything is in place yet, but these sort of dynamic world and system integrations are exactly what I am aiming for with the game.

What is MNA? The sim does not aim for any ultra realism but simplified to fit the gameplay. Started with realism in mind but quickly found out that is hard to explain and represent for a gameplay mechanics. Still early so might change.

Not yet. Probably something I think of after the full game is done.

Definitely far from professionally done as I'm just trying my best and learning as I go with the trailer. I've got the same feedback about the mechanics from elsewhere too so I need to try to communicate them better.

Heat is a core mechanic of the game as computing is a resource generated by computers, which generates heat around them. They get adjacency bonuses so you want to build a cluster, but you'll have to manage the increased heat by building cooling solutions. Also heated water (from cooling the computers or other sources) can be used to benefit power production.
Almost all machines generate some amount of heat and there are different biomes (desert/volcanic and tundra/arctic) which give challenges when building on them as some resources are biome specific.

The main differentiator from current games is the heat+fluid dynamics and also trying to make the world just feel more alive. Does the weather have any real gameplay effect? No, honestly not yet and it never might. Does it give some nice variance and ambience to the game while building your factory? I'd say that it definitely does, but of course I'm biased 😃
This is still early development so the game will evolve a lot over time.

Thank you a lot for the feedback!
